Digidick
The plastic screen on my 2002 986 has split so instead of replacing just the window I’ve managed to get myself another roof with a glass window which is now fitted and looks great!!! But.... when it opens or closes at the point the roof frame passes the hinge/arm of the clamshell (on the passenger side only) it has to push past it meaning it runs quite hard against the clamshell arm. On the drivers side it passes cleanly with only minimal contact. The clamshell arms have plastic guide plates attached to them and on the passenger side this almost gets pulled off every time because the roof catches it when going past My question is can this be adjusted?? I’ll add some pics.

Digidick
Its like the frame needs to twist slightly but I can't find a definitive guide to all the possible adjustments. When it gets past that point it continues and joins the winscreen edge fine.
the baron
It might be worth speaking to a specialist as this might need more than just an adjustment if might be cheaper than you think getting someone who knows what there doing to look at it, or there’s YouTube but adjustment videos are quite rare. Digidick
Yeah that’s probably my next move but I don’t think it’s damaged in any way as once past that point it folds fine. At least now it’s on and keeping the car dry as the old one was leaking. I might loosen the 3 big bolts on either side and see if it’ll twist slightly then tightened them back up. I’ll update as I go as this might help others.
Menoporsche
@Sazzy did you meet this problem when doing yours?
Digidick
Something else has just crossed my mind.... the car is currently sat on 4 axle stands fitted on each jacking point as I’m painting the calipers and doing a few other jobs. The drive is fairly flat but not perfect, could the body be twisted slightly as it’s not sat in its normally sprung loaded position on its tyres. It doesn’t need much for the roof to clear the clamshell arm so is it possible?

Menoporsche
Twisting happens on most cars though it's emphasised that the Boxster was designed to be convertible from the start so shouldn't twist so much. But I think twisting is when you jack up one wheel and nothing else, not a "not quite dead level" driveway.

bally4563
Measure the pull arms are the same length and even accordingly, could be putting a twist in during closing/opening.

Boxob
Would it be possible to add a shim somewhere to move the frame across slightly?

No because it needs to move more into the car on that side rather than away so shim's will make thing worse, nice idea though. Currently the roofs up and the car is at least staying dry now. Once its back down on its wheels (painting calipers and changing some suspension arms first) I'll know more and will report back soon.
Digidick
Looking at my pics again it could be the clamshell arm thats too far over, the gap from the body seems more on the troubled side?. Anyway thanks for the input so far, I'll be back soon.
