everyone should own a TVR at some point, they teach you a couple of things....

1. How to drive a powerful car with ZERO computer assistance

2. ....mechanics and how things work

I heard the exhaust noise can also make you go deffo.

OP = Original poster :)

So I was right in my assumption that there was a microwave sensor on the 987's then.

As I say when I had my TVR and had a new alarm fitted it had a microwave sensor installed under the centre console that protected the interior as convertibles are not idea with ultrasonic as you cant leave the roof down as the slightest breeze will set it off where as the microwave sensors actually detect physical mass movement.

By the way take the p*ss but everyone should own a TVR at some point, they teach you a couple of things....

1. How to drive a powerful car with ZERO computer assistance

2. ....mechanics and how things DON'T work

:D:D

You know what they say about never 'assume' ;)

Of the TVR's I looked at everyone had owned it at some point

OH, I've fixed point 2 for you as well.

Cheeky get :) :D

You know in 2 years of owning my Chimaera 400 it never let me down...only thing I did was put new plugs, leads and dizzy cap/rotor arm on it because it did develop a slight missfire when it was super hot sat in traffic.

Is the 400 the V8?  If so, I'm not surprised it got hot.  There's not a lot of room under that highly insulated bonnet and between the just as insulating plastic wings. ;)

Yep big old Rover V8 4.0L....and yes Fibre glass insulates like a bugger! :)

That being said it sat in traffic on a Friday PM on the M25 in the hight of last years summer and didnt even get close to overheating....I on the other hand was melting....and my feet were stupidly hot! :D Great on colder mornings though!!

I looked seriously at TVR's before we bought our ex Boxster.

I went out with the NI TVR owners club a couple of times and while no one broke down on either of those runs it was accepted that was the exception rather than the rule.

Then when I bought the Boxster a couple of guys commented that they wished they had done something similar. The local TVR guy also reckoned I had done the right thing when l showed him the Boxster AND this was from a guy whose own TVR was for sale.

There was a guy with a Chimera with 150k on it who drove everywhere with the roof off, but he was a special (in every sense of the word) sort of idiot.

Still at least you have seen sense now :)

Oh yeah there are some real turds out there....key like anything is dont skimp on looking after it and get it worked on by a TVR specialist.

The Boxster is night and day with the Chimaera.....it stops goes and doesn't try to kill you every five minutes.

Glad I had one and when funds permit I will buy another to sit alongside the 987....strangely enough I could even get better MPG out of the TVR on a motorway run than the Boxster too :)

....and yes there are some exceptionally "spekial" owners....and also a lot of them wear some very "rose tinted" specs too....the build quality is utter sh1t its the rawness and noise that really appeals to me. Its basically a glorified kit car.

Brutally honesty though I love my 987....its just so nice to drive be it to the office on the motorways or to the supermarket to get some beers :)

So we still haven’t found out if the 987 has the interior sensor ?

My best mate has a 4.3 Griff which is a proper mans car with no power steering either. In a straight line it’s awesome and I used to think it sounded great. Now I have exhaust mod 😉

I guess I will have to find somewhere remote an see it mine actually works sometime then. I’ve had quite a few problems with the alarm and think I have them all sorted. Including melting some new plastic sticky out bits onto the inner door handles....mainly as it’s high mileage and the gables had dropped a bit.
