Reduced power warning

Hi all

had my car back fro a service from my local specialist. Next day a reduced power warning comes up in the RH information display. Switch the engine off and it cleared and car seems to run fine. Took the car Back to my specialist who had diagnosed the attached print from the diagnostic computer which has identified a throttle position sensor . The garage also confirmed that nothing they could of done during the service would cause this. Maybe just coincidence. Has anyone else suffered this failure on their 981.  See inserted fault code below

The diagnostic electronics on the 981 seem a little flaky. I have had a handbrake fault warning and also a low oil warning. Both proved to be false and never came back.

If it has gone away I would wait to see if it returns before spending any money.

Hi

Thsnks for your help. Not sure about requiring a reset of the fault code as when you turn the ignition off then restart it seems to clear the warning which then only returns at random.

Warning on the dash maybe.  But not the one logged in the DME. That’s there until it’s reset. I was suggesting they clear the code, do the diagnostic steps listed and see if it returns.

If it doesn’t occur when Diags are run then if it does come back later then you know you are looking at a new instance of the fault not an old one.

Hi Paul

Thanks for your advice. I have had the fault code reset the dealer also tested the accelerator potentiometer and it all checked out ok. Just using the car as normal now to see if the fault re occurs. Looking around the forums this fault was common in the 987 but has not been an issue as yet on the 981. Fingers crossed it does not come back.

I certainly wouldn’t go chucking parts at it after a single code/warning. Punch of salt comes to mind with these kind of things. Coulda been a bit of dirt on the sensor or just a funny 5 mins. A reset and test over time will likely prove nothing is wrong.

Well fellas pleased to report a 160 mile round trip to Simply Porsche at Beaulieu today and Porky run great with no repeat of this fault. 👍👍

Hi Fellas

latest update is that after a couple hundred miles the fault has not returned. However the dad does seem to have a very almost unnoticeable hesitation just as it changes up a gear. Can’t say it’s definite but just seems slightly more jerky than before the service. Will keep monitoring and post any updates.

Latest update on this is that the warning comes up occasionally. Seems to happen if the car is jolted by hitting a pothole or if you drop something heavy in the boot. Just monitoring for now as the fault seems to clear if you stop and re start.
