jj46 Posted September 4, 2023 Report Share Posted September 4, 2023 Hi, the red airbag warning light is currently illuminated constantly on my 05 987, and after connecting up the icarsoft reader it displays error code 80eb current triggering unit fault, which seems to suggest that the air bag control module is at fault. Does anyone have experience of this? The part number fitted is 99761821705, if i were to purchase another would anyone know if it needs to be coded or just plugged in, and would seemingly superseded modules such as 9761821707 or 99761821708 work. When fitting a new airbag triggering unit, it is coded, and then "locked". I am pretty sure you can change most of the coding values (thorax/steering wheel/pre-tensioners, etc.), but I don't think you can change the vehicle type (911/Boxster/Cayman), the VIN number, and the hours counter. A new unit is £1000+, so it is worth taking a gamble on a used one, but I would give yourself the best chance by getting one from a model as close to yours as possible.
