Tamás Dinya
Hi, My 987.1 Boxster 2.7 has the stone guard film only on one side of the car. I like it better without the film, but... is it really necessary to be there? Are there anybody here who had the paint chipped without the film? Bike Loon
The paint will get majorly chipped without it
Mattman42
My previous boxster had a lot of small stone chips around the film as the wheel arch does flare out quite a bit - you don't "need" it per se, but you are likely to get more paint damage without them. And they are a bit of a "Porsche" thing, with ties back to the 911
red rocket
I had loads of chips around the film so I removed it and made my own, larger replacements along the lines of those on the 930 turbo.
Menoporsche
Mine were replaced a year ago with PPF over a larger area, the old original ones had collected a lot of dirt underneath. Cheaper than a respray!
