Alignment cost

Been a long time since I've paid for a 4 wheel alignment but thought I might have the boxster in for one, old place i used to use, a reliable, well regarded family run business has recently changed hands and become one of these pro tyre places so Im feeling a bit reluctant to go there.

There is a very well regarded place (Tuned UK in Wrexham) within a 10 mile drive that have quoted 80 to 200 depending on any changes made.. bit of a wide ranging estimate I thought.

Is this the going rate these days or is that a bit top endy?

Recommendations in North Wales or North West would also be appreciated, don't mind a bit of a drive out for someone good thats reasonably priced

Cheers

It cost me £120 for a 4 wheel hunter alignment at the local quickfit last year. Another place it was free for the check and £X per adjustment which would have been close to £150 if all needed work, that was a pro tyre place as well. I wouldn’t dismiss Kwikfit et al, as some do know what they’re doing with the Hunter equipment. Need local recommendations really.

These guys are excellent, based in Liverpool, so not too far for you. The Dutch guy who runs it has a great reputation and gets all sorts of modified and exotic stuff turn up. I used him for my alignment after changing all the suspension and he freed up the track rods for me for free as part of the alignment, even though it took a while there was no extra cost.

@mr.tourette23 When I had the 996 I used ‘Spires Tuning’ in Warwick / Near Leamington Spa. This was after a complete suspension refresh / arms / links / bolts / coil overs etc…

Matt there was excellent - terminally OCD in a good way - and approachable. I’d had bad experiences locally - one “specialist” (jokers) and some friendly chaps with a Hunter set up. Sadly neither local operators were up to it.

Car drove really, really well afterwards - I wouldn’t hesitate using him again.

Alignment was around £150 ish. He included a check over first (up on post lifts to check for play etc) / then set up:

Last year used a company in Witham (Essex), too far for you but it was £80, i had been in a month before and they could not adjust due to seized bolts and he refused to charge me, despite being up on a ramp for at least 15 mins. That was great service. There was a guy having his 911 track car checked over, apparently it will take them about 2.5 hours minimum and he comes in prior to every race, to get it set up. If it's good enough for him, good enough for me !

A well respected  and highly recommended race setup place in Hillington. Near glasgow will do a full geometry and fast road set up quoted me at £180

https://www.kbmengineering.co.uk

i’ll go there once i get a new set of tyres fitted

i found this a really interesting watch about how a proper mechanic sets up the geometry of a car

I used Kenneth Brown just a couple of weeks ago for my four wheel alignment.

Very nice chap and knew his stuff. Lots of cool stuff on the ramps when I visited.

He put my car back to stock as it was way out. I'm wondering now if I missed a trick not asking about a fast road setup though.

ABP motorsport in Shavington near Nantwich charge was £150 but I was there for at least 1 1/2 hrs very professional set up and have been there for 30 - 40 years and job spot on considering all the work I have recently done

Guys I use charge me £60 for a hunter and it is dead nuts perfect. In fact it's  better than perfect because they maxout the front camber. Northants though.

Can I ask who, looking for local to get mine onto a Hunter sometime?

Or try RPM Technik, only about 25 mins from MK and a top tuner. Set mine up for occasional track use and it was a noticeable improvement.

Orbit tyres Wellingborough. If you decide to try them let me know and I'll make sure they do yours to the same spec as mine. Good guys.

This is of interest to me for the 981 to get it all shimmied up to a decent alignment - now I have decent tyres on it now.

I think it was about £180, maybe a bit more - but it was a while ago. I have the settings printout though.
