  1. Thought I would try out the £100 cordless polisher on the headlights. They were not terrible to start with but the surface felt rough and was starting to go very slightly cloudy.
I had the T Cut headlight kit and all went well. The polisher seems pretty good, came with a mulittude of different adaptors and sponges and the headlights came up lovely.

I must remember to add the cost on when  come to sell the car ;)

one of your senile moments? pretty sure you have told us before of your auto-dipping mirrors :)

Auto dipping interior mirror was mentioned previously not the passenger one when reversing.... try to keep up ;)

  3. Had an RTFM moment recently... I only discovered last week that if you leave the switch for the electric mirrors on the N/S mirror, it auto dips when you put it in reverse for parking and it then returns to normal position afterwards. 😁

Apart from that, nothing to report, just ticked over 84,000 miles now so only 16k miles  to go until its worthless! Everything still working perfectly and just ordered a Cordless polisher... not sure they is much improvement to be had over the finish I have but will be a good to try

  4. Bad to use... Corrosion - This happens because most of these caps are made of a steel, where as most valves are either brass or aluminium. With the static electricity generated by the wheels going round you get a galvanic corrosion reaction between the two differing metals and they corrode together.

Also I have seen on bikes where the base of the tyre valve has got damaged with some of the heavier metal caps as the weight puts stress on the valve as the wheel rotates at speed

  5. So went and had a look this morning, plenty on the fronts but the rears are low so guess I will be ordering those.

No doubt they still need the stupidly expensive anti squeal bits

I always put genuine pads on mine.  On the last car I only replaced them just before I sold it - after 40k miles so IMHO cheap pads are a false economy.

In my experience, the pads only have to be 2/3rds worn to trigger the sensor.  I'll have to find the pad comparison picture.  It's in my work computer so that won't be until Monday.

I will have a look in daylight tomorrow... at least with those wheels its easy to see through them!

When I stopped for petrol and restarted the light was not on so maybe just a false alarm...will see in the morrow. Hopefully worst case its a set of pads and 1 sensor!
