Can't you just do the deal and keep the original plate on the new car under your private plate is available?

When I bought my MK1 MR2 many years ago, I drove around with the previous owners private plate until he arranged to get it on his new car and I got a call to put the original plates back on.

    This.

Collect the new car with the current reg, when you get the retention cert back transfer it on to the new one and let your insurance co know the change of reg.

As the spoiler goes up at 75mph, I wonder if that's evidence for the plod to give you a speeding ticket.😁

No as your speedometer is set to over read by between 5% - 10% from manufacturer. Also there are certain points to prove to be able to prosecute for speeding being the speed itself, the location of the speed and the time and date etc... none of which would be proved.

It would be quite interesting to know dyno figures from some of the older high milers?

I know its not a 986, but my 987.1 3.4S was apparently 295bhp from factory, had it on the dyno at 120,000 miles and it was 295.5bhp. Good old Germanic efficiancy ;)

  4. MOT history shows first MOT not until 2008 then nothing till 2015 but the mileage adds up but then the roof is out of the guttering on the n/s which is usually worn elastic.... which is weird for 5k miles.

Interior is not that clean, does not look that well prepared or looked after in my opinion.. I would be suspicious, seems cheap but lots of red flags

I believe in later cars had a feature where upon opening completion, you could press the micro switch and the windows would close again if they were closed when the operation began. Thought that was cool. Guess you’re describing the other side of that feature.

If the windows were closed, when you pressed the button for the roof to go up they would do the 2 inch drop and when you pulled the handle at the end it would re close them yes. Think the earlier post was saying if the windows were open when the roof close started

Are you sure that's a fault? Earlier models do not close the windows as part of the roof raising operation. Mine a 1998 model doesn't.

Nor did my year 2000 986S, if you press the windows to go up while you are doing the roof it stops short but then completes when you pull the latch over but they didnt close the windows if they were down on mine

I'm pretty sure your current one is on the original clutch, from what the OPC told me.

Drives like a car with 8,000 miles on not the 108,000 it has :D

While you are there Mr Moderator, can you ammend the title of the thread to say "your" rather than the current "you're" :D

  8. Ok, I got a reply from the seller as follows...

Just in the switch, it's side lights for the thin bar (good at night on its own), but for the DRL, pull switch out one click into front fog mode. Looks stunning.

So in standard guise they are not really DRL's as the only way to have them on in the daytime is to have the sidelight on and fog light setting out. However, I am sure I am right in thinking that if you combime these with the diode mod they should work with the switch in the home setting?

    Looking at you @Guvs lol

Just did this mod in about 10 mins.....I too was worried about getting the ignition barrel out as I'm a bit heavy handed but it came out easy...No force is required.

thank you to Guvs for pointing to this thread and also the note about not forcing it.

i do have a question re MOT tough

ive brought these lights, again big thank you to Guvs...he is like my Porche fairy godmother ?, as he put me in Touch with the guy direct and I saved some pennies...

but...the mod works...and the upper section of the light is on in the "Home" position.

the upper LED's go off when the main beam lights are on..but the lower lesser powered section or bar is on too.

would this be an MOT failure as aren't there only supposed to be one main light on at night ?

These ones on ebay... how easy are they to do? Is it literally swop the units over and fit a diode?
