  1. Peter, that looks absolutely lovely. Love the painted vents, red belts and you're in the red roof club.  I had to get my roll hoops painted but well worth it  I think.
PS your mirror bases are painted too instead of being black, in case you hadn't noticed👍

I like red interiors but when I saw the pictures of the car I wasn’t so sure but when I went to view the Boxster I absolutely loved it’s red interior I think the colour really lifts the cabin plus it has the extended leather which makes it a great place to be feels very luxurious.

Yep, extended leather here too it's nice. My car is  Rhodium silver. Looks good with black cars too, although for many a red interior is their worst nightmare.  An orange car with a red interior was for sale on Auto trader a few weeks back, that did NOT look good 😊

  3. No, wait, this owner is clearly an older person, who by selecting such bold and unique colour choices is clearly making a definitive statement exploring the role of aspirational halo cars and their position in the marketing  zeitgeist for those who seek affirmirming choices  in life spaces that are traditional seen as limiting. Colours that are seen twice in the daily 24 hour cycle remind us of the circular nature of our lives  suggesting  acceptance of the orbiting time spans present in our wider universe. A colour choice which in turn  can be considered a metaphor for the premature termination of the flat six with parraraell homage to the eternal joy of the internal combusted life force. 😀

I've had the car since Christmas 2021. It had 44K then. The main problem I have with the Boxster is getting out of it - it's such fun to drive.

    Good effort 👍😁

I wish my car came with a red roof. Cosmetically, it's the only change I'd make

'tis human nature I think. My car has the button shift rather than paddles. It's not so much the paddles  I like, rather the style of the paddle shift wheel. It  looks nicer to my eye than the multi function job I have and lifts the whole cabin. I don't let it spoil my enjoyment of the car though.  Thing is, I have never seen two Boxsters that were identical.  I had an exterior mod done which I really like but no one ever notices, or if they do, don't comment,  because, perhaps,  they think it looks pants 😁

I also think I might enjoy pushing the smaller engine hard. Lower likelihood of engine problems sounds like a plus too

Exactly, especially if you want a manual, it's at about 4000rpm and above these engines give the kick. No history of bore score on the 2.9. Not sure how easy it is to upgrade to Xenon's, if you can it will be expensive. Nightbreakers is an easy upgrade option. I think "well specced" falls in two camps ; those twho like  mechanical stuff  PASM, sports plus, Xenon's, PSE, and those more in favour of comfort and convenience, so full leather, cruise, parking sensors, Bose sound, 18 way electric seats. Extras like heated seats, nicer wheels, have universal appeal. If your happy with black, silver of grey you'll have a lot more choice. My 987 was Aqua blue with a tan interior and look fabulous IMHO 🤣

  7. Welcome @anopenmind Mattman & Meno give sound advice and  Mattman has had similar car experience, you're in good hands. I have had a 986 then the 2.9 987.2. I think most would agree that 2.9 was a very good reliable engine, hence why some seek it. Confirm for yourself, but Porsche set the Boxster up to understeer when pushed, part of this is the smaller front tyres. This is because if they do let go they are harder to catch as the mid-engine makes them spin like a top. My driving talent is very modest I always feel very comfortable in the Boxster. I took my 2.9 around Spa, my first ever track event, great fun, the Boxster looked after me. They only bite the careless. If you drive a lot at night look for a car with the Xenon lights, they have washers, standard lights do not. Boxster standard headlights, by common agreement, are candles. They can be upgraded of course. Boxsters are a very good car for touring and passengers, which helps to keep partners onside. Go to France, go to the Alps,  Good luck 👍

This thread should be renamed to 'What has Mick done to his 991 today' 😂

When the thread started it was very much a case of "what has Ian done to his 981 today" . . .  it's a good thread whatever 👍 Ian (T24RES) also did a lot to his 986 Anni including the IMS before getting the 981. I think Ian's old Anni is still being enjoyed by a member here. Ian is playing with his bikes a lot these days, I believe.

  9. New nearside PADM fitted, no issues, at JZM Kings Langley. Part was a mere £754.88 plus VAT making a total of £905.86 . . .glad they don't recommend replacing 'em in pairs.

Saw an interesting Boxster Spyder there. A very dark bottle green, with red interior, so interested in the colour I did not note if it was a 981 or 718. A customers car and it was tipping down.

  10. So, fingers crossed my new  PADM will be delivered to the Indy tomorrow.  All being well 'twill be fitted Thursday. Two and half month wait. Hardly driven the car in that time though. Nice to have the car in shape for the approaching spring 👍 Btw for those who know me as proud resident of Hemel Hempstead complete with it's fine Norman church and contrasting new town architecture of the 50's & 60's I must inform that I have now moved to another town of interesting toponymy, Leighton Buzzard.

  11. If the front of the car is lower than the rear on the drive, this could easily be the rear drains I feel. Check the foam tray too (where the roof stores when dropped,) for any damage/holes. My 986 used to leak a bit in super heavy rain ( only on holidays) as it was garaged at home. Never did trace the the point of entry. Can be a frustrating task.
