  1. If the front of the car is lower than the rear on the drive, this could easily be the rear drains I feel. Check the foam tray too (where the roof stores when dropped,) for any damage/holes. My 986 used to leak a bit in super heavy rain ( only on holidays) as it was garaged at home. Never did trace the the point of entry. Can be a frustrating task.

Bit of both. Not really been anywhere in it since October so few 5 or 10 min drive around block then sometimes letting it idle for 20 to 30 mins.

Most would agree  this not an ideal pattern of use, particularly letting it idle for any length of time, especially from cold. A ten minute drive once in a while probably does more harm than good too, as the engine and gearbox oil won't get up to operating temperatures. Longer trips with the car (40 miles plus) gets thing properly warm helping keep the damp down too.  Don't take my word on it though, have a search around this forum and elsewhere.  Enjoy the car, use as much as possible. Good luck.

and the double speed wax is simply superb.

I like this too. Tried other waxes people rave over but when you way up ease of use, appearance, longevity and price it's a tough package to beat. Harley wax is nice, quicker to apply, similar price, but not so long lasting or so 'beady' I feel.

  4. Dieppe coast and the immediate countryside is OK but its nicer, I think, just to the north. St. Valery sur Somme is nice, not many tourists, as is the Somme bay and the Authie valley north west of Doullens. Going west your have charming, but busy Honfleur and Normandy. However that said, to my mind, the best places are the ones you discover for yourself. Booking .com or AirBnB can't go wrong really.  I have stayed in St.Valery sur Somme several times, not to be confuse with St.Valery en Caux to the west of Dieppe. If you do stay in St.Valery make sure your accommodation has it own parking. Enjoy, September is a nice time of year to go.

  5. So PADMs are on back order, and have been for a couple of months, availability has not been announced. Can only be ordered from an OPC by a recognised Porsche service outlet, not necessarily an OPC. So I have been quoted a price for parts and labour and paid a deposit at a local Porsche Indy. Price quoted is £1091.39 P&L inc. VAT

Had a quick look at how Porsche Active Drivetrain Mounts work. Info seems a bit skimpy, the best link I have posted below. Seems In Sports Plus mode they stiffen up as the engine revs increase to help with cornering stability but allow more comfort at lower speeds when they are less "active".

  6. Thank you every one. Having tried ringing a couple of OPCs without a pickup I have emailed  my local OPC who say they will email again tomorrow  with info.  Given these parts have a bit of a reputation for failing, think a used one would be a false economy. That is on the assumption new ones have at least a years warranty. I'll update the thread with wait, costs etc  in due course.

Is it true that leaving it the footwell auxiliary socket will only last for a certain time before that socket shuts down and u have to connect it to the battery?

Not in my experience. It may be the case if you plug the CTEK in after the car has been parked up for a few hours it will not work, but again, I have not had this happen to me to the best of my memory.

  8. @Nobbie I think that is a fair point. Nice technique to use third and fourth fingers. I did make a couple of unintentional downshifts  in early days until I got use to the buttons. Never considered changing the wheel because of how the buttons work, but I might for the aesthetics if I was feeling flush. Horses for courses I guess.

Mind you I thought the idea was to scream down the Strines in second so why would you ever need to change gear  🤣

  9. Well it's all subjective but the only reason in my eyes to change to a sports wheel with paddles is because they look better. I have a button wheel and find them easy to use, and really don't understand why people are sniffy about them from a functionality pov, but it's not the best looking wheel I would agree.

That was indeed the issue. Thanks!

Have you managed to get the battery low message sorted. I think I'm right in saying if the battery is on the way out the first thing to play up is the engine stop/start. Sorry I can't offer any more suggestions on that issue, hope it's a minor thing, good luck

Also does anyone know when I set voltage on the 4th line of the vehicle info screen it always goes back to a blank line when I turn the car off and on again?

Do you have the memory function option fitted, buttons on the doors, if so I think you need to reset the memory once you have selected the volts read out. You can also program the car to remember settings to a particular key too rather than use the door buttons. Its a bit involved, see the handbook.
