  1. I think the PSE sounds good and for a switchable system compares well in cost with similar independent offerings. I have been looking at this myself as my 981 is without PSE and I need more fun in my life. You'll not get your money back on on either system at sale time but I fancy the OPC system would be most desirable. If you decide on the PSE system you may want to check with your OPC if they can get one this side of Armageddon as I believe there is a supply problem. The carnewal system is the one I think sounds the equal if not better than the PSE - I have followed and been followed by @Ringer250  a few thousand miles so my ears speak with experience, er, so to speak 😁

Nah never,  waaaay to corporate. Oh and Johnnie Walker red label whiskey has a red and gold label and lots of wine bottles. You must be T- total 🔴🟡🔴🟡🔴🟡🔴

Still rooting for the dark red. :)

That would be very nice,  have to have sumptuous tan upholstery too. I am hoping it's the light apple green metallic, black or a dark brown interior . .

    Nah. Pale metallic blue. 👍

That would be my choice I think, with Oxford blue leather with pale blue stitching and carpets and some chrome.

I used AMS Porsche just outside Welwyn, but any specialist with Porsche diagnostics should be able to do it.

Is Angus the still the main man at AMS? Nice chap Angus, AMS used to do a Saturday surgery health check on your car FOC back before lockdowns.

although more & more I'm discovering the limits of my own enthusiasm for all things Porsche (I really just like the 2 seat mid-engine platform more than I care for the brand).

    +1

  7. Hi Steve, I think the TIPEC experience depends very much on where you are and the enthusiasm of the local group. Same could be said of PCGB but to a lesser extent I think. I was in the Chilterns branch of PCGB but let my membership lapse during Buttercup. Had some nice outings with PCGB. No direct experience of TIPEC but some folk here have had fun trips with TIPEC. I too am in Hertfordshire, in the urban utopia of 'emel 👍

  8. If you are coming back to your original idea I suspect you will be very happy long term with that choice, good luck  Very generous of you to share this most personal, subjective, but hopefully enjoyable decision.

  9. No.3 appears most green on my phone after all the digital processing to get here 😁. It's odd, my 986 was Meridian silver, which most people saw as  a rather dull metallic grey or even a pinkish grey.  Myself, I could always see an exotic silvery  purple, especially in the sun, I really enjoyed the colour.

  10. Think these really need to be considered in daylight. Given the nerve and skill put into this project may you have some regret later if a slightly bolder, more creative colour scheme is not fully explored???

Could cry 😭 stranded at the traffic lights ball joint went when turning right! Only took it out of lay up as it was dry and this happens 😭

That's tough,  it was gonna break anyway though.  Now it will be fixed, and all peachy for the summer so you wont miss a nice day.   😀

  12. @Daboy3000 Has a good point. The really important thing though is that you continue to gather information then apply  it to your own outlook and situation and make a decision that feels right for you. So here is my experience for consideration.  i purchased a 986 in 2014 with low miles, 18.000. I did the bearing, had lots of fun. In 2019 and 30,000 miles later, despite proper servicing and the like, something broke and the engine bent a couple of exhaust valves. So it got sold off with the broken engine, I did'nt fancy the fix which was close to the value of the car. Do I regret doing the bearing, no, because it was the right thing for me at that time. If you are paying a biggish premium for a low miler, I would do the sums should something expensive break in the future. On balance I would suggest you may be better off long term buying a well kept car with more normal use and miles and not bother doing the bearing. If the IMS breaks, or anything else nasty for that matter, your loss will be smaller. You can collect over 2k for these cars on scrap value alone, well I did in 2019.  No right or wrong answer really, highly subjective  to personal use, wants, miles and pocket.
