Good advice, now followed. But it raises a new question. While 19inch rims are an option for summer tyres, only 18 inch rims are an option for winter tyres.

It seems to suggest that the 19inch Lobster Claws I've just bought as winter wheels aren't suitable for the purpose.

It would appear that anyone buying their car with 19inch rims would always need a second set of wheels in size 18 if they ever intended to fit winter tyres.

All weather tyres don't get a mention.

I remain uncertain on how to go forward.

I used to keep a set of 18's to use for winter...

Don't worry.  I'll get the missus to move it into the garage for me tomorrow 🤫

Hoping I've not done my back in,  just moved the jack out into the garage myself. I Suddenly worried the box might leak oil onto the floor in my study where I left it.  I've got the week off now so it'll be just my luck if I'm crippled 😬

Yep! You'll find it's alot harder to move around than the little ones, but so much easier to use! Had to take one up to Bristol last week for my son to use on his Lotus - he got the Halfords one! No way I was going to try lifting the Sealey into my car anyway!

Gents for years Ive made do with a heavy duty trolley jack bought when I owned a discovery so hardly suitable for a low slung chassis like on the Boxster and now want to get the real thing so a low profile jack. This one from Sealey looks reasonable and gets good reviews https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sealey-Trolley-Jack-2-tonne-LOW-ENTRY-Rocket-Lift-Hi-Vis-Viz-Green-2001LEHV/352309515938

Has anybody got one of these or alternative suggestions in a similar price range? I've bought some 15mm and 7mm spacers (one of the other topics) and thats the trigger for this upgrade.

    Thanks Keith

Finally got around to ordering a new low profile jack today...

Sealey 2001 Low Entry Rocket Lift in orange

Looks decent and I know a few on here have the same model.

Who is yours insured with rowbos?

If it sells for that price its great for the BE market, that does include a 2 year Porsche warranty though which has to be worth a bit.

I'm insured via Manning.  Really good policy, agreed value, track day cover, genuine OPC repairs (including windscreen).  I've used them for around 4 or 5 years from memory...

My last valuation submitted from PCGB to Manning was for £30K, I need to submit a new valuation every two years - I think a new one may be required soon 🤔

Agreed, the Porsche warranty is worth a decent amount.

Not planning on selling mine anytime, it does exactly what I need and lives most of its time in the garage waiting for when I have more time to play 😀

Pretty good spec on the whole.

2011 Black Porsche Boxster S BLACK EDITION 3.5 2dr for sale for £34,990 in Cardiff, South Glamorgan (autotrader.co.uk)

Interesting, maybe I need to increase the agreed value on my insurance!  I've got less miles and more spec from a quick look at that 😬

No nav and no bluetooth for Google Maps to announce over?  What?  I'd sell the car now!

Next you'll be saying you don't have Bose either.  And massage seats, you have massage seats, right?  ;)

    You barstard 😂

Poor Davey will be sobbing in his poverty spec Cayman about now I guess 🤔 😇

That makes me feel much better, knowing I'm not missing out, as mine hasn't got navigation fitted.  Can anyone confirm that the bluetooth telephone kit is also rubbish, just to give me a sense of smugness, and ensure I don't feel like a 2nd class citizen...?

You are 2nd class.  Wipe that smug look of your face!

I like having built in Nav, I pity your lack of mapping, I can feel your Nav-envy starting to build... 😂

  9. What year is the current map if you don't update?

There is nothing worse than missing roads or dodgy information on a map - that said I find Waze or Google maps better in almost all cases but I do like the convenience of built in SatNav 🤔

    TIA

    Wilfandrowlf

It lives in the drivers side sun visor under the small flap in the corner (at least it does on mine)...
