  1. Been out for a quick run in the sun with the bride and it gave me chance to test the new steering wheel and also see what the Alcantara lower dash looked like in the sun ☀️

I m pleased with the new updates and that smaller wheel feels great 👍

I just need to get the door grabs professionally covered as my poor attempt leaves a lot to be desired 😂

I tried the Chipex.... its not great 😅 The colour match is spot on, but the 'blending solution' just doesnt work, it pulls the paint out of the chip you've just filled. Resorted to wet sanding each filled chip with 3000 grit and polishing out. Not the end of the world but was £40 for the kit. I'd probably just buy colour matched paint from Porsche next time.

Try dr colour chip next time and use some solvent panel wipe to clean the chips before you start. It is the same principle as Chipex but it actually works 😎

  3. Just been for a quick blast around in mine as it sunny here and no creaks or rattles in mine and I recently had the dashboard in bits😂

Are the noises more when the roof is up or down. I would have a look at the roll bar covers, check the wind deflector is seated properly and pop the bonnet check the plastic trim that covers the battery is all clipped in.

  4. No I sold the side pods and just grilled the original ones.

Ive been adding the Alcantara lower dash and I even ended up changing the steering wheel (again) fourth wheel in this car😂

The Alcantara is definitely warmer than the leather and I think it feels great on the steering wheels 👌

  5. I m a big fan of PASM, quite underrated on the forum but I think it is perfect for our crappie UK roads.

I noticed a big difference going from a 986 to a 987.1 with PASM, but found the Sport setting way too firm but as the PASM is permanently active it is adjusting all the time in non Sport mode.

When I had my 987.2 I managed to find a used DSC controller for a reasonable price and wow what a difference that made! It made the suspension a lot more responsive and adjusted to give you the best ride possible, so much so that I used to drive everywhere in Sport mode as it was firm but controlled adjusted and kept the ride compliant even on bumpy roads.

    Very very impressive 👌😎

7mm front 15mm rear on my old PASM 987.1

You can go a touch lower than the standard PASM height but I can’t remember how low or if you need special springs.

Personally if would want to improve your PASM the best money you can spend is on a DSC PASM controller but they are expensive and won’t make your car any lower 😂

Just back from Porsche Glasgow with the new PSE fitted to my car and there is only one word to describe how it sounds  - AWESOME!! I drove home with the roof down so that I could hear the exhaust  crack and burble and pop and couldn’t believe how good it sounded. I am absolutely delighted with the new exhaust it adds another dimension to an already brilliant driving experience it’s a 👍 from me

    Happy days 👍😎

  8. I agree with Patt try to narrow it down to the basics which are deal breakers and have a list of nice to have. You will struggle to find everything you want so maybe try and find one with some of the more expensive bits on and other stuff you can add at a later date.

Compared to my previous car which had most options mine was quite bare but had all the important stuff I wanted apart from the pse which I had to have fitted. Options that you see mentioned on here are all personal preference so it up to you.

My previous car had the extended leather which was nice enough but not a deal breaker to me as I don’t think the Porsche extended leather is particularly amazing but others do.

  9. I can find the size out for you, I bought it off Amazon. Some of the mesh has very small holes so not suitable and yes there are some decent YouTube videos. The one I watched was an American guy with a white 981, I know that narrows it down for you 😂 but he shows you how to make the template etc. He did it with the bumper in place and I started off like that but when the air con guy took the bumper off it was a lot easier 👍

Not a fan of the side ones, look a bit ‘Halfords’ and not sure they’re protecting anything apart from Zunsports profits. Mind you, that’s a Cayman so the owner’s taste is already suspect.

    😂😂

I do prefer the clean factory but having replaced two sets of condensors I decided I needed to use some sort of grill and the diy version is a lot more subtle.

As for the sides on the 981 you would be surprised how many leaves get hoovered up and stuck in there.

Just dropped my Boxster off at Porsche Glasgow to get the PSE retrofitted. The fitting time going by the worksheet is 5 hours but due to the many rusty nuts, bolts and clamps they said it could take longer and I might not be able to pick it up until tomorrow. Can’t wait to hear the new exhaust I am like a kid at Xmas 😂😂

You will be over the moon!

Totally transforms the driving experience, one of the first and best things I did with mine. Not cheap but definitely worth it 😎

  12. I would go with the diy option, pretty straightforward to do and they look more subtle than the Zunsports and also a lot cheaper.

I was lucky and did mine why the air conditioning guy had my bumper off replacing the condensers.

I ve had 4 Boxsters 3 with grills and never had any temperature issues

  13. I think the cabin wind roof down in the 981 is better as you are sat lower down but neither are bad.

The sound proofing with the roof up is definitely better on the 981, you can hear your exhaust and what is going on outside but it isn’t intrusive. No need for the Cayman tin top😂

Another option I would recommend is the PASM, I’ve had it on the last 3 Boxsters and it gets better with each generation. Mine wafts along over my local crappy roads and then you can put it Sport on the country roads and it really comes alive.

You can also drive in Sport on the normal roads in the 981 as it adjusts so much better than the 987 and doesn’t shake your teeth out.

As long the road permits my normal setup is Sports mode on,PSE on and PASM in Sport 👌😎

I would also recommend getting the PDK with the paddle Sports wheel, night and day difference from those dreadful buttons. I have one for sale if you find the perfect car but it has the button wheel 👍
