I know I'm in the minority but I struggle with the cost of PPF these days as it's getting to the point where it's costing more for the stuff than repairing or in some cases replacing what you are trying to protect in the first place.

I’m with you, I think on a brand new car you could justify the cost but on a used car that has probably picked up a few marks it’s too expensive 😩

I'm on my third set of side repeaters and I notice the O/S has heavy condensation.. F'ing poo quality control on their supply chain. Seems to me they crack trying to fit or remove.

Are you still using the original style or the 718 led type?

I changed to the original led type a couple of years ago and no issues at all 👍

    Hi

Any more thoughts about the colour for touch up paint for my alloys?

    Cheers, John

    Hi John

Sorry for the late reply, I ve found a colour that should work.

The paint is by gen rock GR799 superfine, this a solvent paint and you should be able to get a small tester size of it which would be plenty for a wheel touch in.

  4. Looks like what they call in the wheel world hyper silver. If I’m right it is a very bright silver with very little sparkle/metallic in it. It would explain why there is no paint code as they don’t do touch ups for hyper silver as it is a special effect powder coating but there will be a paint you can use I just need to think about it 😂👍

Not sure if I'm happy with them, might try them wrapped in body colour instead of black

I think the black looks good against the blue, I tried them in black and then body colour then removed them 😂 I just couldn’t live with them on mine, they look great from some angles but weird from others.

    That guy looks class.

I had a steering wheel off him for my 987 and it was fantastic quality but considerably more expensive than Royal.

I think for a one off piece of trim LS would be fine but if you’re after multiple pieces of trim it would get very expensive quickly 😂

  7. Daz is a fountain of knowledge and helped me out with loads of bits and pieces on my 981, top bloke 👌

I don’t find the rear feeling unstable on my 981 in higher speed corners. I did feel the suspension was a bit bouncy on some of the country lanes but after switching to sports on the PASM that isn’t a problem anymore.

Your car may need a alignment as all of my Boxsters have been very sensitive to alignment setup and even correct tyre pressure.

Ive limited knowledge of different tyres, mine are Goodyear Eagle F1 and I don’t have any complaints for a mid range tyre. If money wasn’t a option I would change them all to Michelin which I had on my 987.2 and I do believe they gave slightly better grip and confidence in the corners but only a tiny bit 👍

Sorry for the old thread bump, could you perhaps list the required part nos?

If you have a look in members rides you should find my Boxster no 2 and I’m sure I posted some pictures of the throttle body swap, it is a lot easier on the 987.1 as you use factory parts 👌

  9. I had a similar exhaust on my 987.1S and found the sound deepens over time although if anything mine got louder. I don’t remember any drone as such but I know the wife wasn’t keen on it and glad when I changed to a 987.2 with the pse.

That actually looks quite good, I would be interested in seeing how good it really is at removing the yellow/green uv coat of Boxster lenses.

I did my wife’s mini headlights the other week and they weren’t too bad but I still ended up starting 400 grit on my electric 3” da sander. But perhaps their coating remover dissolves the old coating eliminating the need to heavy sand.🤔

£90 per side IIRC. It seems expensive but the transformation and durability is pleasing every time I look at them.

I think that sounds like great value when you add up the cost of the materials and time involved. Also the 2k lacquer applied in a clear booth would provide protection for years.

I ve never been brave enough to lacquer mine even though I have the equipment, I tend to use some leftover ceramic coating. I’ve tried waxes and sealants but they just don’t last 👍

The reset procedure worked on my friend's car, he was complaining about the shifts after it has sat for a long while in lay-up and it worked! (remarkably).

    Have a read.

    I'd try this before updating.

    😉👍

It worked on my Black Edition, it had spent its previous life in London traffic and the gear change was slow but after trying the reset it was much quicker and smoother. I wasn’t sure if it worked on the later cars but it appears it does.

  12. I’ve just had dig through and on page 134 in technical you should find my posts doing the fitting and the advice from the other members.

It was quite good reading those old threads and comments from current and former members of the forum. I had forgotten about Ragpicker, he did some great stuff with his cars👍

Have a search. This has been done before and I'm sure I've posted part numbers before. My old pic links may not be working but lots of info on this Ive posted in the past.

It was edc and Patt that helped advise me on the 986 fitting 👍
