Just back from Porsche Glasgow with the new PSE fitted to my car and there is only one word to describe how it sounds  - AWESOME!! I drove home with the roof down so that I could hear the exhaust  crack and burble and pop and couldn’t believe how good it sounded. I am absolutely delighted with the new exhaust it adds another dimension to an already brilliant driving experience it’s a 👍 from me

    Happy days 👍😎

  2. I agree with Patt try to narrow it down to the basics which are deal breakers and have a list of nice to have. You will struggle to find everything you want so maybe try and find one with some of the more expensive bits on and other stuff you can add at a later date.

Compared to my previous car which had most options mine was quite bare but had all the important stuff I wanted apart from the pse which I had to have fitted. Options that you see mentioned on here are all personal preference so it up to you.

My previous car had the extended leather which was nice enough but not a deal breaker to me as I don’t think the Porsche extended leather is particularly amazing but others do.

  3. I can find the size out for you, I bought it off Amazon. Some of the mesh has very small holes so not suitable and yes there are some decent YouTube videos. The one I watched was an American guy with a white 981, I know that narrows it down for you 😂 but he shows you how to make the template etc. He did it with the bumper in place and I started off like that but when the air con guy took the bumper off it was a lot easier 👍

Not a fan of the side ones, look a bit ‘Halfords’ and not sure they’re protecting anything apart from Zunsports profits. Mind you, that’s a Cayman so the owner’s taste is already suspect.

    😂😂

I do prefer the clean factory but having replaced two sets of condensors I decided I needed to use some sort of grill and the diy version is a lot more subtle.

As for the sides on the 981 you would be surprised how many leaves get hoovered up and stuck in there.

Just dropped my Boxster off at Porsche Glasgow to get the PSE retrofitted. The fitting time going by the worksheet is 5 hours but due to the many rusty nuts, bolts and clamps they said it could take longer and I might not be able to pick it up until tomorrow. Can’t wait to hear the new exhaust I am like a kid at Xmas 😂😂

You will be over the moon!

Totally transforms the driving experience, one of the first and best things I did with mine. Not cheap but definitely worth it 😎

  6. I would go with the diy option, pretty straightforward to do and they look more subtle than the Zunsports and also a lot cheaper.

I was lucky and did mine why the air conditioning guy had my bumper off replacing the condensers.

I ve had 4 Boxsters 3 with grills and never had any temperature issues

  7. I think the cabin wind roof down in the 981 is better as you are sat lower down but neither are bad.

The sound proofing with the roof up is definitely better on the 981, you can hear your exhaust and what is going on outside but it isn’t intrusive. No need for the Cayman tin top😂

Another option I would recommend is the PASM, I’ve had it on the last 3 Boxsters and it gets better with each generation. Mine wafts along over my local crappy roads and then you can put it Sport on the country roads and it really comes alive.

You can also drive in Sport on the normal roads in the 981 as it adjusts so much better than the 987 and doesn’t shake your teeth out.

As long the road permits my normal setup is Sports mode on,PSE on and PASM in Sport 👌😎

I would also recommend getting the PDK with the paddle Sports wheel, night and day difference from those dreadful buttons. I have one for sale if you find the perfect car but it has the button wheel 👍

  8. To get the sports mode working you need the adapter x which would allow the multi functional bits to work and the heating bit. I’m not sure if further coding is required to the multifunction but I haven’t got that just the Sports modes which works flawlessly 😎👍

For anyone thinking of changing their wheel on their 981 ( cant think why, love the sport wheel ) their is a usefull short video on Youtube by an Ausie called Peter Fritz. he did it in literally 10 mins, no adaptor or anything used , sorry havn't attached link

It’s a good video but a replica wheel and airbag that’s why it doesn’t need the adapter.

I m just halfway through this steering wheel swap and originally wasn’t going to bother with the adapter. But once the wheel arrived I changed my mind 😩

I will post some pictures once it’s finished 👍

Had the PSE replaced.  One side actuator snapped ages ago, and there other side seized as they all do eventually, and I'd been thinking of going Carnewal or something but was always keen on keeping things OEM.  Had kept my eye on Design 911 as a potential supplier of a PSE as all OPC's seem to be in a no stock situation, and/or allocating available to warranty replacements (mine isn't under warranty).  After speaking to Design911, they said that there could be an update in March, so I kept an eye on this for stock levels. https://www.design911.com/p/sports-exhaust-system-pse-porsche-981-boxster---981c-cayman-cars-with-sports-tail-pipes/

One evening last week it said "in stock" so I pulled the trigger, and it arrived promptly, and I arranged local indy to fit it yesterday.  So my lovely BGTS is back to full musical awesomeness, with the button doing the necessary thang.

    Pse

    PSE in a box

    Replacement PSE Replacement PSE

Glad you finally got it sorted!

I love my PSE and never leave home without it 😂 and it will sound even better with a few miles on it 😎👌

Sent it with chrome centre ring instead of black , wasn’t plug and play as promised (airbag) and one paddle was faulty , had terrible trouble trying to get it sorted . Overall great product tho…..

said from Europe but PO Box in Germany , operate out of China

I’ve seen them advertise before but there is something unnerving about a replica steering wheel made in China and supposedly with a genuine airbag.

One thing I don’t want would be the 12 o’clock marker as that would definitely do my bag in when driving… just saying personal choice

I was originally the same and I like them either way but the marker has grown on me, must be all those RS videos I watch on YouTube 😂👍

I was looking to get the same wheel done by them although i have been told by some make sure i know how careful you need to be with alcantera in terms of keeping it clean and free from greasy hands and dirt.

How have you got along with it and what you changing to and why?

You do definitely have to think about dirty hands on the wheel, I use these cheap disposable covers when I’m washing the car or working on it.

This was Sunday when I was fitting the Alcantara lower dash.

You can keep your wheel looking fresh by giving it a regular brush with a soft leather brush or even a soft toothbrush.

It isn’t too difficult to look after with a bit of common sense and 100% worth the effort as it feels great to drive with and looks great 👍

I’m just changing the wheel as I fancy a change as I had the same wheel in my last one, so in total I’ve had the same wheel for 5 years plus 😂.

Im planning on fitting this one once the adapter arrives from China.

This one looks black in the picture but it’s actually grey Alcantara but it’s damp after a intense clean as it’s a used wheel and was quite grotty😩
