They have only had 8-10 years to change them
Well to be fair to them they stopped making the 981 nearly 8 yrs ago 😁
Ps - I have PS4S on mine and won't change back, but Pirelli bashing is overdone, largely around the N0 version and it's low temp wet performance which it was never really designed for, great summer tyre when warmed up a little bit sharper feeling than the PS4S.

Have a look on Copart. Most of the crashed 981's are on Pirelli's..............
718 - but you get the idea
https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/73292563/clean-title-2017-porsche-718-cayman-sandy
That's because the vast majority of 981s came with Pirellis not for any other reason.

Even the basic xenon's have a leveling function it's integral to the unit rather than the sensors the pasm system uses on the suspension arms.
A chap on here showed me that the regular xenon's on the 981 has an electro magnet which pulls the shield at the front up and down as the suspension moves.
Since upgrading mine and the bulbs to Osram they are really good far better than the ones on my Golf R with the pdls equivalent.

This thread is not a source to confirm it was not fitted, we can clearly see that it is fitted 'now', washers, gloss black inners and you confirmed the presence of the button. At this point do you care? It has xenon's.
-
Retrofitting pdls is a big job and probably best part of £3-4k of parts and labour, new headlights (£1k each), new modules x 2 , new stalk for the manual cleaner button (which is apparently fitted), different clock spring, new washer bottle, additional pump, running wiring not to mention hooking up the data lines for steering inputs. New bumper or drill out, all the hoses and electrical connections on the bumper.
Even I wouldn't bother, you just add the 35w bulbs for an easier life. Highly unlikely it's been retrofitted. Get the vin and run a check again, someone is lying to you.

It literally tells you in the advert spec sheet that it's fitted you've just wasted everyone's time 😂 we did enjoy showing off our knowledge though.

Good spot about the spec list.
I’ve actually seen the car in person, and it did have the button on the stalk from memory .
I called Porsche, however, and they confirmed that according to their build list, it doesn’t have PDLS, nor does it have washers specced at factory.
Regarding the front plate - this is just due to replacing the standard reg plate holder with an EU spec one. It still has the original plate holder holes.Well Porsche must be wrong it's fitted, a retrofit is unlikely but there are people crazy enough to add pcm4s to these cars so anything is possible.

Prepare yourselves for some ultimate 981 geekery in what follows 😂
Said car. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202310293440180
The spec list states it has bi xenon's as an option in one of the pictures which likely means pdls were specified as xenon's were standard on the S and so wouldn't have a corresponding price otherwise.
But interestingly the bumper has a short plate holder which adds to the theory that it might not be original.
If pdls is definitely not showing you could perhaps check if the car is UK specification and not a grey import from Cyprus or Australia. The reason I suggest this is because option code 288 covers headlamp washers and was potentially available in other markets with the standard xenons.
But I think it's most likely that you read the spec wrong!

A couple of questions for you, are the headlights gloss black at all inside or all chrome? I think I see the gloss black but hard to tell.
Do you have the option for left hand traffic as a light and visibility option in your cluster menu?
Do the washers work? Do you have a headlight wash button on your right stalk.
If not your bumper has perhaps been changed out at some point.

Maybe! Looking for a bargain though and why start negotiating high 🙂 Not many cash buyers out there, people using their savings to pay the mortgage and selling assets. I sold my house in February and moved into rented waiting for the drop in house prices, just applying the same theory here.
Are these cars reliable enough to buy at this mileage?
I actually think it's too high, but I think the 981 is probably one of the most reliable modern Porsches.

Worth £17k! not a chance you are crazy.

It's quite a small discount for what it is, put more down now, pay less overall I'm sure of it.

The nc5 just isn't as appealing as it once was. Fortunately our patch is still relatively quiet.

Yes, I know them. often spend a few days based in Dumfries on the bike to enjoy some of Scotland's finest.
Most people just blindly follow the NC500, but there is so much more further South in Scotland that one day the youtubers will realise and the muppets will then follow. Enjoy while you can!
You don't want that to happen, always best when it stays nice and quiet.

The adaptor is ridiculously priced but again it will hold value, you have so many in the 911 community (997 and 991.1) also looking to do this a future sale should be very easy.
Surely £1500 in the bank for your next car is still there you just have it in the goods rather than the bank. Enjoy the experience of your car here and now.
-
Porsche parts, particularly steering wheels are safer than putting your money in the bank, buy a 718 wheel and airbag, possible to source for under £1k and you'll get it back minus fees as long as you keep the original wheel.
Your next car will probably be a Porsche anyway so you can take it with you.

If you are brave you can use a machine to file it down, the actual light strip is quite far down.

It's a no from me but I almost like the idea and I think people will make up their own mind.
I'm yet to test fit it but the gap is very obvious from what I've seen and I was surprised Peter didn't mention it in his video. Check your wiring also, external cables need to be sealed in the connection. I'm not saying they aren't but check.

Why do these need to refitted?
Wouldn't it be best to just leave them off altogether - all 4 of them
The idea I suppose is that it prevents things entering or crawling up the tube, the consequence of blockage is worse so it makes sense to remove the guard or leave them off altogether.
-
I know I'm in the minority but I struggle with the cost of PPF these days as it's getting to the point where it's costing more for the stuff than repairing or in some cases replacing what you are trying to protect in the first place.
-
It's not built into the cluster you can buy the speaker separately, you probably need to remove the cluster to replace it, plenty of videos on YouTube covering that process.

And you haven't just adjusted the setting to quiet ?
The speaker I think but not certain is located near the instrument cluster but not certain.
OEM Reversing camera install

Nice project ! I think you've just about worked it out. I personally don't like reverse cameras so I've never done it but this is what I know.
Yes connect to canbus wires which will link into the can gateway.
2 is negative.
This likely also needs coding in the gateway module.
