  1. Update on mine for future reference the brake duct attached to the control arm was slightly loose on the drivers side, quite surprised that it made such an impact but it seems to echo through the.entire body and steering, it's been re clipped and secured and it seems to have stopped. 🤞

  2. Different strokes .... I don't agree I'd rather pay more for a lower mileage example of a car I want which is also in good condition personally, then I don't have the disappointment of worn surfaces and components, they just generally feel tighter in my experience. More miles = more time spent out on our wet badly paved roads, more corrosion and seized bolts that make any sort of tinkering and repairs a pain I could do without.

Spoken like a true 981 owner trying to protect his ‘investment’

Upwards of £35k is where dealers are advertising judging by current Autotrader adverts!

I will pay what I think a car is worth & what is acceptable to a seller and I certainly won’t pay overs, that money id rather put in my sons bank account, but that too is irrelevant!

seems like every 981 actually any car owner in the current climate  likes to post the same comments that have been bouncing around for months It’s nothing new and thus irrelevant. The price is what it is and what they want.

You need to aim for a do'er upper, or higher mileage example, this one isn't for you, in time you'll realise the cost of keeping them in good fettle hence the asking prices for good examples.

Thanks everyone, useful food for thought there.

I've replied to all the enquiries: thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest :)

That's a nice very late build example with a desirable and rare spec keep that in mind. If someone really wants a 981 this is the type of car they will be waiting for.

  5. I had the same thought regarding the lacquer peal you've probably already had a smart repair on the bumper, I don't think it's normal on these.

A good polish will do wonders for the finish, the important thing is a good colour match in all lights, the depth can be improved by a detailer. You can go back and ask them to polish it again and see how it looks afterwards.

Mine has the camera and has the speed limit display on the PCM unit while using nav but it’s not in the cluster. I use google maps as that’s much better than the built in nav.

Hmm that's odd that's what mine does without the camera.

Yes I do the same and use Waze or Google.

  7. I'm just popping in since some of my 981 has some of the 718 goodies, would you guys be so kind to clarify a couple of points for me?

Does anyone have the speed limit display from the PCM4 GPS system showing in the cluster..I'm asking those specifically without the recognition camera, I realise with that option you will have them display.

Also, does anyone receive traffic alerts in the OEM Porsche nav without an active Porsche subscription, maybe it's a local issue but I get none whereas they used to work on the old pcm3.

    Thanks

  8. Mine is doing this 🫣 right side at very low speed, LCA was done so it isn't that, maybe try the diagonal next as the source is definitely down low. Mileage still in the 30s but I guess it is getting on a bit now.

  9. Honestly the 981 is on the whole a reliable car, I'm very happy with it.

PSE valves seizing is your biggest concern when you are parking them up for a while, cold start, move and long term storage is a good way to seize them as the water will sit in the mech. Spray them with lubricant and move them by hand and you will be fine.

Low quality exhaust bolts is the other issue with them, it's just how it is unfortunately.

Good idea to protect brake lines to avoid MOT advisories for surface corrosion.

Drop links can get sticky where they attach to the damper, a couple of mine were a bit stubborn to move when I was doing suspension work this summer particularly on the near side. Good idea to grease them.

Keep the drains clear too as mentioned.

My battery is still going strong and I've owned it 7yrs. It does avoid the winter mind.

  10. Ref the suspension, as above he's not comparing apples for apples, two different suspension set ups there sport pasm vs pasm with different ARBs also.

The 718 is slightly more stiffly sprung and as I've shared before it has extra bracing to stiffen up the rear end which does impact the ride quality.

They feel like they have a lot more grunt but the peak power is quite high up the rev range so the difference when side by side isn't as good. Imho it's not an £80k plus car but the high asking price is good for 981 because it's the next best thing available.

  11. We don't do it because we can't, and the vast majority of our population isn't interested in manual labour. That generation is long gone.

My experience of Chinese made kit is quite positive, but often a clone or take of something that already exists.

  12. No requirement for a 111 check if it already has warranty, renew it  ahead of expiry. Besides they don't have the parts to supply you with a new PSE since they are all on back order.  🫣

  13. There's a big gap this year between the trade in value/ wbac because of their perception of risk and what the market is willing to pay. I saw that recently on an early Q3, trade value was about £5k, seller expected maybe £6.5k private but when checking the cheapest dealer asking price was about £9k for a like for like car. The phone literally rang off the hook when advertised just below.

I would adjust your price to attract a buyer or hold on and be patient for a buyer to come along.

Remember that some sellers are trying to flog the gts for £60k, one OPC just dropped from £62k, things are very strange at the moment.

    No I wouldn’t.

Experienced Indy with PIWIS access would be my requirement.

This... mostly because of the access constraints and things that can go wrong if they try to take shortcuts.

If it's a simple oil change or repair task then you should be ok, I often do simple work on my own car like brakes etc and follow the repair manual for torque values and one time use bolts etc, it's generally a nice car to work on since it's been babied and lives in a garage during winter.

I have just replaced my sounder unit with a part number ending in F (which was what was in it already) but still have a problem. Alarm is triggering correctly, hazards flash but no alarm sound…. Not sure where to go next. Any suggestions welcome.

Had the same issue when I test fitted one from my Golf same part no. Ending F. Porsche one worked.

Keep it connected and see if it works after being connected and charged for a while.
