Was heading up to Aberdeen to visit my family today so felt rude not to take a wee detour through Cairn O’Mounth. It was very cold but taps aff regardless. Also got my private plate on.

I think I saw you today, remember the red roof! I was in a black Cayenne, forgot to wave.

Does that mean you don't approve of hitting the limiter? Lots of ex bikers here, pretty sure a lot of them would have bounced off the limiter from time to time. Before the abuse starts, I agree, very little point on the road, surprisingly easy on a track.

Looks to me that it was a quote from a movie and you've taken it literally 🤣

I'm still trying to work out PDK manual. More so in Sport Plus.

In manual - it will change automatically at the redline if your foot is flat to the floor on the throttle. More so in 2nd onwards. 1st I tend to change before as I've not quite sussed it yet.

I've watched videos of 981 PDKs on the nurburgring and with it in manual i don't see the driver shifting themselves. Up/Down. Paddles or stick.

What you think is manual mode is not actually manual mode, manual mode is only active when the shift lever is pushed to the left (rhd car).

Auto is engaged when not, the driver can override with the paddles but because the lever is in the auto position it will take over again unless there is driver intervention.

In manual mode you can hit the limiter.

  4. I think both are user error, the first you've double tapped or maybe held the paddle, the second I think you've hit the downshift threshold under the pedal and it's shifted to the most aggressive gear possible, it will hold the gear until you instruct otherwise which is exactly what you would want the car to do in that situation.

If you boot be mindful of how far down you mash the pedal.

Went out for another blast with some pals this morning and my god is the PSE in Sports Plus mode is just ridiculous (in a good, making people tut at you way). The people of Crieff have never heard such thunder 😂

Yes been a while since I last passed through 🤣

You too? I've given up with my official Porsche club, they are always offering weekends out at nice hotels for €2-300. Plus fuel, tolls, babysitter... doesn't make it interesting.  I once got invited to my mate's Scoob airfield day, with a track marked out with cheap sports trainer cones, some bread and spit-roast pork and water or coke in a paper cup, total of €35 (plus fuel and tolls). Guess where I had more fun.

Lol the worst kind, avoid them at all costs.

Huge relief when I gently tweaked the brake line connector to the calliper and it smoothly came out - simple job now to get the calliper to BCS for repair when I have a mo.

BTW, what is the consensus for replacing the calliper bolts for new? They seem perfect to me

Make sure the threads are clean before you reinsert it, be super smooth but if there is any sign of corrosion on the brake line just replace it they aren't expensive and you are in there anyway.

    That's cheap !

Did they replace gearbox oil too ?

I tend to over service my cars, already had the belt and gearbox oil done in my ownership, but will be redone in a few weeks as part of my major service.  iirc quoted just over £700 inc VAT and am trying out Ninemeister as convenient location.

Think pdk interval is 12yrs on the 981 Patt but doesn't hurt doing it earlier 👍

thanks for the info - I'll take a look tomorrow so is that directly under the seat or under the carpet under the seat?

Under carpet, seat needs to come out to gain access to module.

  10. PA module is under your passenger seat, by coincidence it's also where the 981 drains overflow when they are blocked. You might want to check that asap in case you have water down there before it takes over the BCM that sits next to it.

So, what's the consensus on the best piggy back card for Android auto/Carplay at the moment? I've already read through some of the threads, the Isudar one for example, which didn't inspire confidence. My PCM has nav and DAB already.

I'm not up to speed with them all anymore. Mr 12v seems to be everyone's favourite.

Thanks for all the 'shearing' advice. I'll get the calliper off first then research the best option. The nipple doesn't look rusty but the broken bit has a smear of red paint on it.

So, I suspect it has had a calliper repaint in situ that made extraction difficult.........

They merge into one and even once drilled the threads will be damaged and it won't seal.

Be careful removing the line and prepare to replace it for all it will cost you.
