Usually people disconnect the centre channel speaker, but so far I have not touched it or even looked at it, I think it's a 4" speaker like the door mids but not sure what depth. Adding sound proofing to the doors would be a good step.

I can see why, I think it over powers everything so with the other speakers upgraded I guess it makes sense to disconnect it. I suppose I would rather it was upgraded and keep everything else as is. Either way pleased with this little mod.

I did the doors a long time ago mostly to stop the bass vibration.

I didn't have PSE on my 981S but then I wouldn't spend money on something that just makes noise and does not have any benefit on performance.

After first sorting out the handling, with the X73 kit I then set about making it quicker; matched, equal length headers with 200 cell sports cats, bespoke hand made individual outs from each back box with 100mm tail pipes and a couple of days tunning on the Dyno= 312 bhp at the wheels.

In my opinion, that's money well spent.

I guess it depends on how you use the car, it's pretty well sorted out of the box and those mods will have a negative impact on everyday usability for some. Don't take me the wrong way I'm definitely in your camp on this but there are different perspectives and PSE has a significant impact on the overall driving experience probably moreso than a 30 bhp tune.

I don't agree. Seized valves can be freed off and if you want a system that you are wanting the valves open all the time that is a really cost effective OEM option

I have exactly the same attitude to these things but it looks like the one on the left has snapped. If the ad was more honest I'd probably have some more faith.

  4. The right answer is neither but it depends what you deem to be an upgrade. On the 718 they stiffened the rear with a brace and increased the arb stiffness relative to the front which has a nice effect on the handling, I personally wouldn't bother messing with the arbs.

You could upgrade your base suspension and get the full sports suspension package.

I provided stiffer bar part numbers for the rear above, 15 and 16 are marginally stiffer than the 14 you already have at the rear.

For the front you could go for 99134370516, or 99134370511 is marginally stiffer than your 15 but by stiffening the front by more than you can at the rear you would be reversing the good work Porsche has done already. Don't do it.

  5. The warranty cost on the 981 is quite reasonable to be honest for peace of mind if you drive often and can't do your own repairs then it is probably worth every penny.

Unfortunately many of the common issues will not be covered, water damage from drains, exhaust bolts, air con rads (no longer covered), caliper bleeders, it might not be long until the dealers refuse the seized PSE valves if it is deemed as corrosion.

  6. If I were to begin my 981 journey again with everything I know now, I think the priority would be the ride height, the car with whichever, bumper, splitter, diffuser, lights just looks so much better with the x73 setting at -20mm. I'm sure I would have ended up doing it all anyway but that's got to be the biggest bang for your buck at the expense of some of the low speed ride quality of course.

I'm hoping to get my front light inners from the old lights I've been refurbing from the painter today, looking forward to seeing how they will look rebuilt and on the car.

  7. Sorry I'm not sure I follow, sounds like you already have a 718 so you don't need to do anything, Porsche already modded it for you.

However, if you want to go even stiffer at the back then go for the rear @arb 98133370315 or 16. I'm not sure it will make a significant difference but why not.

  8. The quoted costs I've seen recently have gone up because of oil and recently because of the drain checks, I do mine myself and tell them it's in hand as it's optional.

The labour quoted on my Cayenne for the drain checks was £200 ! Cleared them myself, took 20 mins.

You can also supply you own oil to reduce the cost further. I've never done it but know others that do.

  9. I get your point I agree that Porsche main dealer servicing is expensive, I run a Golf R alongside mine and to be honest there isn't the variance you would expect in the running cost because of the the lower intervals, not to mention the shorter DSG and plug requirements.  I am aware of the long life option but it seems to cost more and then there is every chance the sensor decides it needs a service long before 24 months.

Good work servicing them yourself, I've spent a lot at the dealer on mine over the years and probably not something I'll ever get back.

That's twice the price Audi charge for a major and minor service contract on an S3 - and they throw in 2 years extended warranty for that price!

Porsche belt and air filter change - it's a low skill DIY job that takes less than an hour to change both.

The only difference I can see is the receptionists in my local Porsche Centre wear higher heels than the girls at Audi.

And your Audi goes there twice as often. 12 month interval on the S3.

@daz05 @Lonewolfgjp when you fitted your spoilers did you get the alignment in the raised or lowered position.

I’ve watched Daz YT vid and it looks like in the up position so assuming you’re adjusting/lowering/lifting/adjusting….

wondered if it would be easier to get main brackets aligned in lower position to gap the spoiler correctly as assuming the alignment is all in the bracket to risers not bracket to spoiler.

I don't remember now but I can tell you that I did whatever you see in the video 🤣

  12. It's good to be open to spending a little more on the right car, bear in mind that a 25k to 27k car in need of a major service, brakes and tyres can add a good few thousand to the asking price. The OPC is expensive but your spend in the following 2 years could be just fuel.

Ideally you find a members car on here that is ready for the showroom.

I have some notes from 2020: The is code 'L88Z' and the colour is called 'Brilliant Chrome Metallic'.

I've used it on my wheels and the match is superb.

    👍

Wouldn't surprise me since it's a VW silver.
