I've always pulled back up. No damage to report.
Well this conversation is starting to sound very wrong 😬

Planning on using the trombone cleaner on the rear drains for the first time tomorrow - previously it’s been a wire coat hanger, but thought I should upgrade!
quick question for those that use them - on the rear drains, when the end comes out the bottom, do you pull it through from under the car, or pull it back up? Seen posts that suggest both, but pulling back up ‘could’ damage the pipe?

Seems like a fairly sensible plan - not one of those that wants to go stupid

Why? There are some really nice looking 987.1 cars for around £10k, but it seems you need to almost double that budget to get a 987.2…
Genuine question - I’m looking around at 987 S cars with manual boxes on the usual sites, I don’t know a huge amount about these but what you can get for £10k seems like phenomenal bang-for-buck….?
Not really - you can get pick up gen 2 cars from 10k these days - £20k is top money for a gen 2.

Decent road trip today and was pleasantly surprised by the economy

Personally I think they are the best bang for buck.
When i was looking, i couldn't find anything else (2 seater, soft-top sports car, auto) that offered the same mix for £13k - even better, it has a Porsche badge on it too

Returned to the fold after a couple of years in the wilderness
Previous 987.2 S PDK had to go to fund the completion of a house renovation project, purchased another 987.2 PDK in Sep last year - 2.9 version.
I don't have a great track record at keeping cars, but for me the 987.2 is the sweet spot - decent power, styling, handling, creature comforts and reasonable running costs for not a lot of money.
I wouldn't mind a 355 or R8 or Vantage/DB9 or Bentley GTC or Gran Cabrio - but when you look at the running costs on top of the purchase price, what am i really getting that is that much better than the Boxster? Best man maths in the world doesn't add up.
If I win the lottery however, all bets are off and my dream 50 car garage begins!

You might be better off getting a second hand door ans swapping it over, if not, the whole door needs painting

18’s with very low profile tyres might look a bit rubbish unless you have lowered suspension? Boxsters look best when the gap between tyre and arch is minimised

Picked up the car today after repairing the seals and respraying the the driver's door as the paint was dull and started to flake. The painters did what they had to do but also decided that the car will look much better if the front wings also get a coat, so they did it without an extra charge (OK, they have charged an extra £4.40 on top of what we agreed). Then, they called and offered to polish the whole car for £150+vat, it was a very simple decision.
The car does look as it has never looked before, it wasn't cheap but it I enjoy it.
Come on, you know the rules - pics!

One of the highest spec Black Editions is up for sale at a respected porsche specialist ......identical spec to mine (less the carbon parts) and low mileage.....
@Bike Loon - still not a patch on your spec....

It does make you think about looking more seriously at Cat N/S cars. When I was looking, I didn't even look at the ad if it said that on it - might have missed a bargain (or dodged a bullet, I guess). But with cars being written off so easily these days, I feel that bargains are more likely.
But equally becomes more difficult to sell on for exactly that reason - there are enough of them on the market that you don't have to by a cat registered car.

Darn, is that a thing? Should you de-ice the window before trying to open it?
I opened mine the other day and I heard the ice crack as the window went down....door wouldn't shut properly until I'd driven a couple of miles and the interior heat melted some ice somewhere.
Yep - i broke the regulator on my previous Boxster when it was frozen.
Best to squirt some deicer along the window rubber first, give it a couple of mins before opening

Nearly broke it this morning
Car was frozen over and forget to de-ice the window before I opened it - the window stayed in place and i could hear the motor trying to shunt it up and down - ran back in the house to grab some deicer which free'd it up. Seemed to have got away with it and working OK.

You could try Northway - based in Reading so not a million miles away

Sorry, that position is already filled here @Mattman42 🤣
afraid not - lagging behind at 68....

I had them done on my previous boxster by my trusted mechanic - not a porsche specialist
Typically it's £800-£1000 job by a garage.

Gen 2 cars are generally less likely to suffer from bore score as they are a different design. 987.1 2.7 and the gen 2 cars are generally considered the 'safest' bet but there are always exceptions and the actual number is supposedly a relatively small percentage.

Always got decent results from the autoglym hood renovation kit. Needs some elbow grease if it's really green, but you can supplement the cleaner with a general cleaner like demon clean.
Check Engine Light has come on!

Get a cheapy OBD reader from amazon, less than £20 will tell you the basics. Without one its pure guess work.
As a quick fix, disconnect the battery for 20mins to clear the memory
