Appreciate the roof dig, but I reckon access is probably more difficult in the Cayman due to not being able to lean in from the side of the engine bay so easily as with the roof in the service position on a Boxster, although you are working around the tonneau somewhat.

Cotswold certainly have a good reputation with people travelling quite long distances to use their services.

    Wasn't a dig I have a Boxster too haha

I didn't do the job but the space is pretty vast at the back of a cayman with the hatch open, that's the only reason i said it. :)

Thank you.  Did Cotswold's price include the AOS or did you supply it?

Included it, but bear in mind I have a cayman so it maybe slighter shorter labour time than a Boxster due to having a solid roof.

Either way I would expect it to be a lot cheaper than £400! The part isn’t overly expensive.

Cotswold are booking for November now they are always extremely busy and the owner is a lovely guy and a huge petrol head.

I see you're Surrey based. Where did you have the work done?

    I drove to cotswold :)

Surrey prices are silly in comparison for the work I needed done it was nearly double for some stuff, I was happy to drive down there for the day.

I found Cotswolds even cheaper than Torque boxers too but for the area his prices are reasonable.

Going back next month to cotswold for some more suspesion work done.

TBH if I’d sold mine I would definitely be interested in this as I think it’s a nice car. I’m not bothered about Bose and the interior is fine. I’d probably get Red seat belts fitted and possibly the steering wheel upholstered which would include a red 12’o’ clock but that would lift the interior enough for me.
I'm tempted to ask if he’ll take a px 🤔👍

    Worth a try :)

Comes across like he’d look after a car / and looks to have done with this one.

Shame it’s PDK - but does have the nice wheel design and sporty interior.

That one owner, OPC warrantied, manual - discussed (slated 😂) - on the GTS values thread looks to have sold - reckon that’d been good value at < £35k… appearing at a specialist soon maybe….

The interior isn't the sporty one I believe just the standard one for the GTS, the GTS interior pack is a must have option on a GTS IMO, and adds some nice touches and plenty of carbon fibre.

Its a nice car and nice spec but missing the GTS interior pack and also Bose as well. The PTV is a nice option to have though and not overly common.

I like the car and he’s honest with his video explaining it’s time to sell. Identifying things like stone chips on paintwork and the windscreen. But here’s the question. Do you think the documented work he’s carried out using non Porsche parts all be it the exact equivalent in most cases devalues the car at all? But it is being sold at a great price.
I suppose it’s well documented on his YouTube videos and he’s probably got the supporting recipes. But it was carried out by himself on his drive. Interesting to see what people think 🤔

I don't think the work he has done has devalued it personally, the service history stacks up i believe and that's what matters here.

Nice car though and I like the colour, I think the price will need to come down a bit to get it sold IMO. I expect the trade in he has been offered isn't near the £40k asking price either.

I will be asking for a video of the underside of the car, it's 6 a 6 hour drive from where I am, so it needs to be perfect. They have said its a private sale rather than through the dealership and no warranty. If they sell it through the dealership they want 12k.

Hmmm sounds suspect to me, I don't think its a great buy at 10k to be honest i wouldn't bother going to look. f you are serious and they are will to take an offer maybe get a PPI done on it.

Actually enjoyed that, normally I would only watch Harry's garage.

I can't say I have noticed any difference in ride quality vs my old 981, but maybe Dorset roads are better maintained.

Exhaust is dramatically improved with the Cargraphic valve controller.

I must tell wifey about the inflation calculation so I get less grief about selling @moonshine my old 981😅

I expect his 981 dampers are past there best and or the GTS has the PASM -20mm suspension set up and not the -10mm version which is softer :)

I find the 718 GTS dampers / ride (in the 2.5t) amazing to be fair considering the big wheels etc

  8. IMO the 718 2.5 GTS is a better car in all aspects other that engine note compared to the 981.

Sound is a big part of the driving experience I appreciate that but the 718 is soo good at everything else and really does shift.

I'd hold out for a 718 GTS 4.0 personally this is likely what ill do but I cant justify the price difference currently for what is essentially the same car with a better sound track!

  9. Sorry to hear this OP.

No way should this have happened so soon into the life of the car, we had a similar issue with a pan roof on a macan, Porsche UK weren't the best in dealing with it either!

I'd go and put some miles on the car and try to enjoy it the best you can, its a great car when they work without hitch.

I am so glad our GTS doesn't have a GPF as I reckon there is going to be loads of horror stores like this going forward with Porsche and other manufactures, ill actively avoid buying a car with a GPF if I can, more to go wrong by the looks of it. My old daily had a nox cat and that was a nightmare too!

    We like what we like.

I liked my two flat sixes.

    I like my turbo four.

    100%

I'd love a 4.0 GTS but is it worth the minimum £20k premium over the 718 GTS 2.5 no way. It's the pick of the bunch for sure but its not a £20k better car.

🤣 I know you are on the wind up.

But.... for the benefit of others here is a 718s Vs 981s, don't see the car with the power and torque advantage leaving the 3.4 for dead on the straights do you, let alone the 2.0l

I prefer the 2.0l to the 2.5l it really suits the manual box actually, the gearing feels shorter than the manual 981.

981 is highly modified and being driven better this video doesn't really show much!

Stock for Stock a 718 would be faster for sure, I am still a frim believer that a 718 GTS 2.5 would be quicker in most situations than a GT4 as well!

The 718 Turbos really do shift also the steering is better too :)

  12. I am still intrigued to know who the specialist is who's quoted the work. I am fairly local to you and would like to know where to avoid.

I plan on travelling to Cotswold for the majority of work on mine, his prices are exceptionally good to make the trip very worth while! I have had quote recently to do some basic stuff locally and the price quoted by cotswold was a good 40% cheaper!

  13. Who is the indy out of interest OP?

    That seems very expensive!

That needs doing list is literally the cost of the car is it not?

It maybe worth contacting someone like cotswold for a quote to see if they can be more competitive.

  14. Recently got back from a weekend in France with the wife

The GTS was flawless and seemed to meet many friendly Porsches owners whilst there.

A few GTS Boxster's and 911's coming back on the tunnel the same day too :)

Only managed to get a few pictures 1000 miles in a few very warm days.

The 718 GTS is home, it’s a totally different car to the 981, as said before the engine sounds like a scooby and the exhaust note is not a patch on the 981 with PSE but it is rapid. This model isn’t as well specced as my 981 but it’s got the standard GTS bits and a few bits more. The chassis feels a lot better, tighter and more controllable, the seats are very comfy with the wings, the steering is heavier and the LED headlights are excellent. I’ve a few bits to do to it. I’m going to take it for a full wheel alignment and get the 718 GTS badge fitted on the rear bumper. I’ll probably get the black wheels re-painted in silver but apart from that a full detail and ceramic coating. Would I have traded my Black edition in for this? No, but I hope it’s a good car and I’ll enjoy it as much as my BE.

Glad you are enjoying it, it is a better overall car than the 981 it’s just a shame it wasn’t released with a flat 6. But I can see why they did what they did with the flat 4 Turbo it is a seriously capable machine and other than sound track it’s a decent improvement over the 981 IMO.

Get some pictures up when you can OP

Never made it @D8EAN the horror stories put me off.
thought I found a decent spec X3 M40i the other day but it had cheep tyres fitted to it and missed its last service with BMW……

What is your budget for an X3 M40i?

Our friends have a pretty fully loaded one they are looking to sell in the near term, its carbon black with a tan interior and has all packs bar the drivers assistance plus pack!

I have driven extensively both a 3.0SD Macan and the 2.0 Petrol and the 3.0 diesel was a lovely car and the one to own IMO, the 2.0 petrol was far from gutless, it drove really well the only annoyance was the fuel economy of it!

I'd buy one without pan roof as that caused some issues on the 3.0d but otherwise they were brilliant cars and had no issues inc transfer box and much better than an X3 IMO.
