Hi
What I mean to say is that this is the error we git in the Durametric when attempting to code for the options. Both cars have had replacement ECU's. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Tks

Hi
Talking about CC, this weekend my brother installed a 4 stalk in his 996.2 along with the loom extension, and a 3 stalk (his old one) in my 986.2 (also with correct cable) to enable the OBC, and using our new Durametric professional we are ending up with the "did not receive the correct number of bytes from the control module" on both cars. It must be a software issue, but have drawn blanks so far. Both .NET and the Durametric are on latest versions.......
Many thanks for any suggestions.....

Hi
I haven't done this but I have read posts where people have done just that. Mine works fine but I did consider removing it and all the associated gubbins because it is a waste of time and can actually harm the engine.

Took Boxster for MOT & shock horror it failed on split CV joint boot on N/s outer! Am I right in thinking that it’s best to do both inner & outer @ same time? Any problems in doing this? Does this mean a full tracking reset?
Any thoughts welcome.Hi
I remember doing my 993 ones years back and it was a right PITA. How about these to make life easier?

Hi
Yes 987 seats are so much better. That and the console delete and it a nicer place to be than a 987.

Well done, Its 100% down to the car and driver!

Hi
All the Tip's have a multifunction switch. Take that linkage at the rear apart and lubricate it. They get stiff and then it is more likely you will get the linkage popping off. The multifunction switches are quite fragile, and a right PITA to change. Or at least mine was.

Great thread and result! Well done!

Hi
I think the rear braces are a great idea. I am on the lookout for a renline one. The standard technobrace wont fit a Tip (which my car is).

Hi Paul
Was that 987 seats? I think they come apart quite differently and PITArsedly from the 986 ones......

Hi Guys
I changed the selector switch on the side of my Tip gearbox yesterday and the back box for a very nice condition standard one today. All in all quite intense! Oh and fixed a bad earth in the headlights.

Hi
I think that looks very well done indeed. Much better than I did, mind you mine is a facelift so it was a bit more of a PITA I think.

There is an 'insert' part number on the PET 996 552 596 00
Thank you guys!
I bought the delete secondhand, this no insert.....
On a positive note I fitted a new battery. Was worried about getting stranded over winter at some point but no more!

I did mine at the beginning of the year as I was doing the pump and it’s easier doing both at the same time.
I had no signs of it deteriorating but when I got it out the rubber was about 50% torn. I pressed the old one out and put an oem lemforder in was about £35 and wasn’t difficult.
There is a you tube video that has just come on that details the process quite wellHi
I did exactly the same. Just make sure you get it the right way round because the mount design (rubber part) has been revised.
The gearbox mounts also deteriorate.

Hi
Fitted a replacement DME & Alarm after having blown one of the o2 circuits in my DME. The car is a Tip but I put a manual DME in because I could not find a reasonably priced Tip one. Seems to run fine apart from a pending P0600 canbus error.
At least now I have working remote fob which is GREAT!
And well done guys on the suspension work!

74mm TB and 911 housing for the weekend 😊. Hopefully wouldn't be much trouble getting these bad boys in.
This would be my final performance mod, well for this year anyway. Plans for next year: stainless steel headers and sports cat. Depending on the results I may get a remap to complete the performance package ☺️. That would be the limit of the bolt on mods.
Hi
Have you also updated the Airbox to the larger 987 type?

Hi Guys, I fitted another cigarette lighter into the RHS blanking plug. This one is wired to a switched source, so it goes on with the ignition, and off when the key is removed. So my bluetooth adapter and dashcam go into that. Much better.
I am awaiting the replacement DME (and matching alarm) that I damaged when I cut the wires to an o2 sensor with the engine running. What a royal PITA.
-
Hi
I have spent about a day and a half trying to work out why my No1 o2 sensor is not playing ball. Im realllly hoping its not the loom. If it is then its my fault. I snipped the wires o then the old one when engine was running and got a big spark.
My RHS exhaust issues are turning into a proper marathon.

This is more for the coffin arm, tuning fork and caliper bolts but you never know, however I reckon my luck isn't that good. I have plan for that though. I know one comes our on the front because it did back in April (PO had it changed abut 5 years ago) so I have my local indy lined up to remove what I can't remove and change the drop links in those locations. I'll temporarily tie up or remove the ARBs to take it to them if I get part way through and they are not moving but before I do too much damage.
Hi, cool, but are you changing the struts?
-
Hi
I changed my drivers side CAT and it was a total nightmare that took all day. A real PITA. Also I was ready to change my Tip multifunction switch but managed to clear the non-existant fault code and get the gearbox working normally, so left that for another day. I wonder how long before the fault returns.
So I no longer have a blow from the CAT but instead from the manifold where it attaches to the CAT. The flange must be out of alignment. Will have to find a thicker gasket if the gun gum hasn't worked. Ugh!

Took each wheel off in turn and soaked every suspension nut, bolt & bush in Plus Gas ready to start the suspension rebuild. Will do the same again next weekend. Best odds on minimising seized or works shearing bolts I hope. 🤞
Hi, thats a good idea, but it's not going to help for the droplink/pinch bolt if that is seized. But hopefully you will be OK!
All the best
