  1. Sometimes when Im struggling to get to sleep at night my mind wanders back to some of the things I used to do on bikes over the years.

I end up breaking out in a cold sweat just reliving the memories, and I realise how daft I often was in the pursuit of pleasure, and how lucky I was to get away with it for over 30 years.

Not quite in one piece, but still alive and (just about) kicking.

The story with cars was similar, but in a car you often have more of a chance if things go Pete Tong.

  2. As Bike Loon says, try a sports bike. 3.5s to 60 on a bike is sports tourer territory, and a bit boring.

The throttle works both ways, but as Im now getting old I tend to think "realistically, where are you going to use all this performance, unless you do trackdays?"

Roads are so full of traffic, often driven by the clinically bewildered and the hard of thinking, speed cameras, ANPR, etc. etc.

It not as much fun as it used to be.

  3. Sticker on the amp says 4x40w so its obviously not just an antenna amplifier, so that clears up one question. Should have noticed that before asking the question .

Would like to know if the red / white plugs are for power and is it safe to assume the power would be 12v ?

And is it possible to find out if the changer actually works ok somehow, without attaching it to a car with original headunit ?

  4. I have a CDC3 and amp which I removed from my car because it has an aftermarket unit fitted. Freddie and I have been messaging one another about it as it might be of use to him.

I dont know the condition or indeed value as the changer and amp are disconnected. so a few questions for those who know more than I do.

Ive seen the amp described as an antenna amplifier. Is that what it is ? And if so will Freddie need it to go with the headunit he has ?

The CDC3 unit has a lead with a red connector and a white connector. Are these for power. If so, can I put + and - from a battery to the red and white to at least see if the unit powers up ?

Will attempt to upload some pics.

Nope, cant manage to upload pics. Technophobe crisis again. 🙄

  5. my car has had a pioneer single din unit fitted. I still have the old CD changer and amp though.

Does anyone know if its possible to connect them up to see if they work, if only to test them ?

Im pretty sure all the wiring for them is still there, but whether that is connectable to the replacement head unit is another matter.

I should add that my knowledge of electrics goes like this. There are lots of little different coloured tubes which contain smoke.

When I play around with them the smoke has a tendency to leak out.

  6. Reattached the windscreen washer pipe that had come adrift. Had to remove n/s/f wheel and arch liner to get at it.

Put a little cable tie around it so hopefully wont have to do the job again.

Gave it a much deserved wash, as it was filthy.

Plugged the icarsoft in to see if there were any codes or issue reported. Thankfully there werent any.

  7. I would have thought that even with a flat battery the drivers door should unlock with the key, mechanically.

AA is probably is your best bet as they tend to be experienced at getting into cars without breaking stuff.

  8. I agree. Got to go to work tonight, but got a couple of days off after that, so will pull the carpets out to dry them.

Its going to be great fun doing it, as I have very sore back at the moment.

Maybe  I should have bought a newish little Kia or similar ! 😂

Anyway, a bit of pain never hurt anyone. 😜

Just opened the roof and noticed a big pool of water behind the drivers seat after yesterdays rain.

Had a feel of the trim around the area and it seems its running down from approx.  behind the drivers seat belt.

Pretty sure the drains are clear, but will check.

The joys of old Boxster ownership. Theres always something.

I was wrong, drivers side rear drain was blocked. No sign of leaves or simialr, but the water wasnt running away, hence the wet interior.

Must get a trombone cleaner for this job.
