Swapped wheels and tyres over as old fronts worn badly, and managed to pick up a good second set a couple of weeks back. Just need to get a 4 wheel alignment done next week. Think the new ones look pretty good

I would recommend Tyresmart at Witham for four wheel alignment.

  2. Im just starting down the same road and have also found the forum invaluable.

Good to hear your car is now how you want it to be. I know from previous projects its a great feeling.

  3. Insist on having all the old parts returned with the car, then have them tested by a competent engineer to prove they didnt need replacing.

Write down a diary of everything that has happened.

Then go full legal on them.

Boxsters arent spaceships.Working on them is basically the same as working on any other car, with just some of the parts in different places.

I had never even sat in one before 6months ago. Im not a qualified mechanic, just an enthusiastic amateur, but Im pretty confident I can do most things that might need doing to mine, on my drive, not a fully equipped workshop.

  4. For anyone who lives in the area, I would recommend Wheels in Motion in Chesham.

I use Tyre Smart in Witham (although I havent been with the Boxster yet) and found then very good, also reasonably priced.

  5. My drivers seat (986) digs into my loweR back to the point where it starts getting painful after two or three miles. If it had lumber adjustment I might be able to get more comfortable, but although it has memory function it doesnt have lumbar adjustment.

At some point soon Im going to have to find some kind of fix or consIder selling the car, as its ruining the enjoyment of driving it.

Im 5,10 and 14 stone so not far off average build I think.

  6. Ive had the ECU under the seat inspected and there was no sign that it had ever had water ingress, although it had been worked on at some point in the past for reasons unknown.

Had a diagnostic session with a local member a couple of weeks ago. Cant remember which type of machine it was, but it cost him £2500, second hand about 5 years ago. Quite a big screen with a bright green surround if thats a clue ? LOL.

Faults diagnosed were Airbag fault 01. Apparently relating to airbag light. I found a blown bulb and replaced it, but now it stays on all the time.

Alarm faults relating to trunk, frunk, radio and storage compartment.

Central locking fault relating to passenger door.

As the passenger door module is known to fail I replaced it with a new pattern part hoping it would solve the issue of immediately unlocking itself when locked, but its had no effect.

Electrics has never been my forte, but I shall persevere and hopefully resolve things in the end.

Thanks for the various suggestions and ideas  and please keep them coming.

It gives me pointers in where to look etc.

  7. Had PIWIS on it a couple of weeks ago, which gave a code relating to the lamp not operating. I suppose now the lamp is working, there will be another code thrown up to point to the real problem.

May well have to pay another visit to the man with the PIWIS in the near future.
