Used my new QuickJack for the first time. SOOOOO much easier than a floor jack and jack stands. And safer to boot. An added bonus is that it works in a narrow garage where a floor jack just wouldn't work. CHanged the oil in wife's Boxster and discovered that the postcat heat shield fasteners are so rusted that I could just pull the heat shields off. Ordered new clips and bolts from Pelican. Almost $100 for 6 clips and 6 bolts. Porsche tax for you!

Any reason no-one just goes straight for the biggest available, eg 68>82?

Because there's a lot to intake tuning then just a bigger hole. You need to consider the mass and velocity going in, what the head and valves can actually push through and what the exhaust can get out the other side.

    Exactly this. ^^^^

If you are seriously looking at getting more power from the engines then you will need a bigger cam, to open the valves wider and for longer.  You will also want overlap, to help with scavenging, but this then means you will no longer have an MOT friendly car.

You need to calculate the airflow of each component, and then the most restrictive will give you your theoretically best horsepower. Unfortunately there's not the sort of information around that you find for big V8 lumps.

Drove it from Newcastle upon Tyne to Lochcarron, Ross-shire. Saw three Boxsters on the way and got two waves. The non wavers were in a speed  yellow 981 Spyder in Fort William with the hood down in drizzle. May have been being cool rather than having fun ?

Did the 981 come in Speed Yellow?  I thought it was Racing Yellow.

Maybe somebody with a Gen2 should give it a go? :D

I quite agree.  I'm wondering if this hack has been reverse engineered from the factory DRLs on a Gen2 which I think were a cost option.  No doubt the little black box that costs tens of pounds was opened up and found to contain a 50p component.

My only problem with be working out which wires to bridge with the diode.  Anyone want to hazard a guess?

Parked early on a large rugby club car park (I was facilitating part of a meeting looking at health care and palliative care in Maryport) well away from the building. Before the meeting started an ex policeman asked who owned a black Porsche. "I do". "Well someone's backed into it and driven off". He had managed to get the last three letters of the reg plate, and the club had CCTV, but not covering that area, so I hoped the car would be picked up as it drove out. At end of meeting I found a note on windscreen - the driver must have had a conscience after all and left their details.

Damage deeply 'grooved' bumper, wind bent and buckled above the front wheel. No damage to lights, but think it will be expensive! At least she has admitted it was her fault and is hoping (fat chance) that she can pay for its repair without going to her insurance firm. If not then I'll get on to my insurance firm and get them to get the money from her insurance. (Hope there won't be any hiccups as it was on private land.)

So waiting for an estimate on Monday....

Sorry to hear that Rev, :(  Let's hope it's a fairly easy repair but if your wing is bent then there could be damage to the radiator and condenser underneath.

Did you say "Fek" ?  (I hope you've read the other thread where you came up in conversation).

Yes defo a write off. The insurance guy quoted £22000 to put it back on the road. Very wet greasy road conditions and the car went into a spin.

I think we need a 'sarcasm' font on here - though it would be in use most of the time. ;)

It happens.  I hope you can use the experience to get in a better car and not lend it to you mates in future. :)
