  1. Did you resolve the reflectors?

On bikes, if there isn't one, we can stick them on the corners of the numberplate.  Not sure what size you need, but it's an option, just for the MOT.  When you get home, you can put the black/silver plate back on and forget the reflectors.

Only issue is I can't seem to connect my phone to the PCM, tried many, many times but it keeps failing!

My old Sony 'phone never used to connect to mine.  That was a known 'phone problem but there will be others with the same.  Try your sim in another 'phone before getting rid.  Failing that, I think you can put a full size sim in the slot on the PCM.

Nice looking car.  My last was a triple black 987.2. B)

  3. The Tiptronic box doesn't give any problems, as far as I know.  It actually helps the engine (and driver) by not allowing changes which would over-rev the engine.  It also won't let you change if there's too much lateral load on the car, which may upset the balance if another gear is selected.  Finally, as standard they have a form of traction control which I never found intrusive (unlike the old BMW system).
The gearbox has additional cooling from a centre radiator down low though I'd look to check temps to start with, but only with stick on gauges.

    Fill yer boots. :)

I considered one before taking the plunge with the GT4, comments on here re the roof etc actually put me off.

I think the S will do 90% of what the GT4 is capable of in my hands, which makes keeping the GT4 a bit pointless, i've done everything I wanted to in it over the last month, price wise I feel it's a good time to change.

First, I wouldn't make any decision for at least a month.  You're still on the high from the road trip.

I'd hold on for now, and maybe look at a 718GTS 4.0 when funds allow. :)

  5. I've removed the advert part - that was a bit cheeky of you but sympathise that you have to sell.

Firstly, whatever you paid, and have spent on the car is irrelevant, if you want a quick sale.  By using Autotrader, you should have receive guidance on the value when you placed the advert.  If you need to sell quickly, start at their lower figure and be prepared to be chipped by up to 10%.

Leaving your thread will mean that you will probably get bids from the part-time and hobby traders on here by private message.  They will probably bid below what you want, but if it is enough for you to then get on with your life, it should be considered.  You can just as easily say "No" as "Yes"

Good luck with not selling it on here. ;)

what colour is that? that blue is gorgeous, didnt know any 986s were in that shade of blue 🥰

It was a 'special metallic' at the time, so a very expensive option.  A few years later Cobalt was moved to the common metallic palate and Lapis was moved to the 'special metallic' price list.

It's acceptable and in limits, but I run mine at the top of the 4th bar - why wouldn't you?

Probably as any spirited cornering could see oil surge into the AOS and give spectacular clouds of smoke. :)

    I love @Paul P's comment.  Absolutely spot on. B)

The gauge is measuring a few hundred cc's - it's not showing you have 4 litres of oil in an 8 litre capacity - it's measuring the "top"

  8. Mine was a JTDm (which I think yours probably was too, at 150bhp.  Mine was Ti spec and went very well.  I managed to get a free service in lieu of the paint imperfections and two new alloys as I managed to crack the front two.  I think it was the heat cycles at the Nurburgring that did it, as the first half of the laps was always heavy on the brakes.

This is very true. I spent a ton of money on my 147 because I was never gonna sell it. Now I'm forced to take a hiding and sell a car that is basically brand new for peanuts. If I had room in the garage or on the drive I would keep it but either the Porsche or the Alfa has to go. And I'm enjoying the Porsche too much.

Loved my 147.  What model is yours?

  10. @Topbox just sold his Gen2 very quickly, if you look in the sale section.

Pothole is looking for an S but it seems many are hanging around, suggesting they're overpriced, and a few have recently been reduced.

I can't see a 2.9 doing £20k but I'm no expert and if it's the right car for the buyer....

    PDK or manual?

I'm guessing I'm one of the unlucky 3.

Having gone through the pain of the rebuild, I would definitely have the cylinders scoped if I bought another.

Not a reason to not buy, but the downside is large if you're dead unlucky as I was.

When the engine was in pieces the ims bearing was checked and it was fine. It had the later larger bearing.

My commiserations.  How much oil was it using?

Well, this morning I had an opportunity to use this charger in anger for the first time. My trusty daily driver struggled to start once or twice for some reason. I could hear the battery is not as strong as it usually is but thought that it would still be strong enough for a second or third attempt. After the third attempt the battery was so weak that the dash lights would go out when I turn the key. I whipped out the little jump pack, connected it up and tried again. Amazing. The thing swung the starter like a brand new battery and had it going in just a few turns of the engine :) Very pleased customer here I have to say. I also have to point out that my daily driver is a 1.9 diesel Alfa so I am pretty sure it will have no issues starting the Boxster if it ever needed to.

I'm keeping that thing topped up and in the car that's for sure.

I've had one for a few years now.  I think I paid £20 for it.  I check the charge once a month but probably only charge it twice a year or when it has been used (usually for pumping tyres as it's easier to lug around the cars than threading the lead through to the cigarette lighter).

IIRC they usually only take about 100 charges before they are no longer useful - but for me that will be around 20 years.

I used to use it on a 6.2 litre V8, even though they're only supposed to be for engines up to 2 litres.  Very handy bits of kit.
