Is anyone really bothered what you think - certainly not me - and it's my choice to spend my money on whatever I want actually - cynical jealousy is very unbecoming - sad actually, and I'm sure that other members appreciate your input as little as I do - get a life!

I'm bothered by what you think he thought.

Pordave did say "With tongue definitely in cheek" and then went on to praise your expense on a much loved car.

If English isn't your first language then I can understand you missing the nuance of the post but apart from that, I think the outburst was uncalled for.

    Let's smile. ;)

I'll have a good inspection when I get home. Interestingly, it had it's annual service in January and I certainly haven't had the hood down since then.

    Thanks for the replies all👍

That could be when it happened then.  If the plastic roof edging isn't clipped back properly after the roof has been in service mode, it takes up the roof space when in the lowered position on the 987.

  3. I had this on a 987.  It was the plastic trim where the roof clips to the rear of the car.  If it isn't clipped on properly, the roof doesn't sit low enough and the clamshell sits high.

    Good luck. :)

Maybe this is the true pricing, i'm struggling to see how 981 GTS are worth £50-£55k in this market though, they aren't double as good!

The car we enquired to part ex against 718 GTS was up for £55k WBAC value it at under £48k!

This is similar to when I bought my 987.2 5 years ago.  It was double the price of my 987.1 yet only a couple of years newer.

I agree that the prices being quoted for GTS models is silly, when a well spec'd S is a lot less, but others can't think like me as the GTS models are still selling at these prices.  I don't think the pricing switch on the 718 Boxster/Cayman helps your case either.

As to whether this condition in this instance/picture is down to only the rear WHEELS of the car being driven I could venture an opinion but it would be based on experience not fact.

As above from Toddie in this instance.  A quick Google gives the details of the car and the class it's entered in - B12 (over 2 litre, 2 wheel drive) :)

  6. At 99999 on my old car I managed 987.2 on the trip. :)

Not sure what went wrong but between working it out and reaching the figure but it was supposed to happen at 100000 miles but didn't.  That didn't trip until 987.4 on the trip.

I'll be writing to the Telegraph, Times, Guardian, Metro, Evening Standard, Daily Mail, Sun...whoever will listen, should I not have this fixed. I keep thinking "what if this was my parents" or someone without the skills / knowledge to research and fight this. It's not about the money, it's totally about the principal.

I wouldn't bother bringing the media into it.  Whilst all on here know that ordinary, hard-working people (and @John K ) can afford a Porsche, I wouldn't mind betting that the story would get written up as you being a self-entitled egotist,  trying to screw a local council service provider.

  8. I think I would have taken the bike into safe care until Lime paid for the damage and retrieved the bike. ;)

As has already been said, these bike hire companies have to be insured in order to work the streets.  If a council has opted for a company without adequate cover to pay for accidental damage (as they appear to be telling you) then their licence should be revoked.

  9. I know it's not a Porsche but on my Vanquish, Churchill (Oh yes) were not interested in a tracker.  I was surprised with the value but insurance companies are getting wise to the fact that trackers can be found and foiled easily nowadays.

Be warned they take a few days to get used to. Once you understand the delay in the changes and anticipate accordingly, then they are great. Apparently.

I think I've said that a few times.  @Purdie has never believed me though. :D

  11. I hate Fuchs.  When they were Silkolene, they spent more on advertising than they did on R&D analysis.  What does that tell you about the product?

Opie is probably cheapest for retail oils so get your Mobil1 from them.  The will also supply the correct filter for the car, from their website.

Does anybody use an Optimate 4 as a battery tender?

Don’t want to invest in a Ctek as have a perfectly good Optimate 4 I used for my MX5.  What’s the best way to connect it, cigarette light er socket or straight to the battery?

Yes, I make extension leads for both Optimates and Accumates using lighting flex and connectors from Ebay, so that I can keep 240v indoors and 12v outside.  I have connectors hard wired directly to car batteries and, in the case of the Boxster, I used to plug in in front of the battery box, run the lead around the edge of the bonnet (so it didn't get trapped in the seal) and let the lead exit from the front of the front boot.

I asked the kitt chap on here if he did it on a track or public road but still waiting on a reply.

You keep prodding that sore spot, don't you?  Have you thought that the evasive answers are because he doesn't want to be reminded of what would have been quite a nasty experience?
He did say to do a search and you'll come up with some details.
