Much in the same way no one you ever talk to in the pub loses at the bookies.........

That's because you are Scottish and if they had lost at the bookies presumably they have no money so would be expecting YOU to buy them a drink

Well, it keeps you all entertained Mick 😏, might have to change my name after tomorrow though lol. Until I actually get the keys and the car on my drive I won't be bragging, this is last chance salon if I'm honest. After tomorrow if I have to walk away the curtains will come down for now.

Fingers crossed all goes well and you and wifey will be doing this when you come home in a Boxster :bana:

Is it me or is Google mostly useless now, over crowded with old and outdated information or ads.  There used to be a time when just using a little skill you could find anything, now it's just a shyate show.

Looking up information on Google is like taking a drink from a fire hydrant  :(

Try looking for dog-friendly hotels/restaurants I can guarantee the first umpteen you call will say "sorry no dogs".

When I purchased the 987, I was told its advisable to keep the front lid open in case the battery dies. It's not my daily commute so this is what I do currently but do others have this issue too? I hear the stories of not being able to access the front lid due to flat battery which is common? Any thoughts on this? I was told to get an optimizer to overcome this potential issue but I don't really like the lid open when stationery. Thanks!

We discussed this very issue just the other day,,,,,,

Just be aware it is entirely possible for a battery on an optimiser to fail, mine did.

Next time you have the bumper off (clearing the rads) you can relocate the manual release behind the tow-hook popout, I covered mine with black tape so it wasn't glaringly obvious.

    Just on another point raised above, the CTEK MXS 5.0 is rated for Ingress Protection of IP65 which can be described as follows;

Can IP65 be used in rain?

An IP65 rated enclosure gives protection against low pressure water jets from any direction, as well as condensation and water spray. It's suitable for most outdoor enclosures that won't encounter extreme weather such as flooding. *DO NOT SUBMERGE!

It is always good to attempt to pre-empt problems, kudos :thumbsup_anim:

Not sure why its perceived wrong that a part-time car dealer makes a profit on a car - that's the business they are in.

Ohhh FFS here we go Matt's latest sale incoming.

I have it on good authority from Matt's son that his Boxster is available for test drives this weekend.

    Don't you start that!!!

Everyone loves to blame an electric car lol.  I hope it wasn't and this is probably more anti-EV propaganda.

    EV's,,,,,,,,,

Guilty until absolutely, positively and unequivocally proven innocent.

It does make you think how many people do take those offers without question.

Is he taking any more applications for grandkids?🤣

When we bought our Nissan Leaf in 2013 we got £5k discount from the government and £11k discount from the dealer, still have the paperwork, but it still wasn't even remotely close to being enough to dodge the first 14 months depreciation,  fell short by about £3.5k IIRC.

The forum I frequented at that time had several patrons who had paid £26k for basically the same pre-facelift car.

Re: grandkids, I think if you sat on his knee you'd break his legs

Do you guys in NI have the option of Motorway, Cazoo, etc?

I see it as an offer, a poor one, but you don't have to accept it. Be even more gutting if you'd not had the initial discount. £18k loss in 3 years is a kick in the nads.

I hear you bud, it is simply their opinion/offer. And I feel sorry for the people who didn't/ couldn't/ wouldn't wait for a deal and have lost £18k.

Not sure about Motorway, Cazoo etc but we have WBAC and out of interest I popped it into their site; £10,700.

It was not that long ago WBAC were quoting £18,500 and a year or so ago £20,700 so it looks like prices have dropped just like @andygo mentioned above.

It is as always the rule cars are worth fek all when dealers are buying.

I don't mind anyone making a living BUT trying to convince me their £10k offer is a reflection of the current regional market place when I'm looking at the same information he is and the nearest car is £6,700 more.

The Lord loves a tryer and all that but how many fukwits are still running around out there with more money than sense who also don't do their due diligence.

He will just keep it, still has FOUR years warranty on it, that's a year more than a lot of manufacturers offer when new! Although to be fair I think he was just looking for a home for his excess cash but he will probably just do what he always does and give the grandkids extra big Crimbo pressies  :santa:

    How old are the tyres?

    I will definitely question tyres.

Might still be worth asking/borrowing a set of wheels just to rule them out.

I'm sure if you ask someone on here will lend you a pair of suitable wheels/tyres for a comparison drive just to rule it out.

I was of the same thinking as Meno in the second post with the engine mount. Did you replace the spacers either side of the front mount?

    Edit;

Just thinking, perhaps it would be worthwhile asking Centre Gravity for their take, they come highly recommended.

    dont these two lines contradict?

    🤣

With a spot of shameless editing perhaps  ;)

I presume the dealer had a markup against the £20k and you have said yourself "what is a list price".

    My accusation of an example of thieving robbing stealers was against the £10k offer on my Dad's car with the justification of comparison against cars available in NI and this is the closest there is in year (about 3 weeks apart) , mileage (less than 1000 miles in it) and specification/model (both are Exclusive spec) although my dads is arguably a much nicer colour IMHO ;

    https://www.usedcarsni.com/330240418

    How would you describe a £6,700 mark-up on a £10,000 pound car?

Well that's a kick in the teeth.

MG run a scheme called 'Infinity' for public sector types and there is about £6k off a new top spec MGZS EV.

So I asked for a trade in quote on his car which is 3 years old very shortly.

Now we bought cheap at the time as the list price was £28k and we bought for £20k and the trade in is now £10k.

I can't find anything available in the entire UK that even vaguely matches his car for less than £14k so is it yet another example of thieving robbing stealers or just business as usual being resumed.

Following on from some comments in the 986 thread, I went out for a short blast to try some heel and toe (never done it before).

Almost went into the back of someone, sounded like a learner driver with the engine revving all over the place and my ankle is killing me - so went well 🤪

    Lots more practice needed...

Also don't forget EVERYONE  can type how good they are at it  ;)

Have to ask - is it worth the money to go from a .1 to a .2?

There are some higher mileage 981's now around the £20k mark - probably not an S but would feel like a proper change?

Holy macaroni did you see the state of the pictured wheel !!

Unless he's very honest and took the pic of the worst wheel which is what I would do, unless I refurbished them instead of course.

I know for a fact they usually have an obsolete book or two kicking around.
