Although after I took that pic I pulled the wire out of the clip it ran through to allow easier pulling when needed.

I was a tad worried that some scrote would take advantage of this,  as it is common knowledge, and get into the car so I taped it to the cross-member with a part of the loop across the middle.

When you looked in all you can see is a black plastic surface but if you want to activate the manual pull you insert the nose of pointy nosed pliers to puncture the tape and pull.

Never needed the manual release or the towing eye in 11 years of ownership but I do like to be prepared, dyb dyb dyb  :)

Once again, I haven't personally experienced any issues but I think that the higher ethanol content allows it to absorb more moisture? Having too much fuel would be a nice problem for me to have!!

If it does end up with a higher water content they will probably market it as 'water injection' to cool the piston crowns or some other nonsense  :(

Statistically it is to do with training.

I do agree that of course a lesser protected human body is more likely to be injured when something happens to it, which is why a biker should wear the right kit, ride appropriately and be more aware of hazards than the average car driver who in my 41 years of motorcycling experience is a complete idiot.

There is the odd freak 'collision' I'm sure, but a significant number of 'accidents' are not accidents at all, but a lack of awareness or a lack of skill & totally avoidable.  If you don't have the capacity to manage the above , then definitely stay off motorcycles and bicycles come to that.

Does your wife also ban you from football, rugby, horses, skiing, fell walking, s3x etc?

    That's more realistic  ;)

    Appreciate all the replies!

so in my case there is no quick fix based on my international business travel etc, have no choice that the car lay idle for weeks and have to accept the issue it seems

Another alternative is I could call round and take it out for a hoon when you are away.

Naturally as a fellow BoXa.netter I would only levy a small charge for this essential service :)

So from now I’ll change the oil every year 👍

That won't solve your problem, only mitigate it.

Taking it for a decent run i.e. not just until the water temperature is up to temperature, it's probably another 20 miles before the oil is up to temperature and ready to start burning off any water content.

I despair at the volume of serviceable oil that is changed prematurely, more so with my ESG training.

    Horses for courses though.

I'm not convinced that anybody would be able to tell the difference between 99 and 95 RON in the real world... The difference in performance is probably less than 5bhp.

Mrs Exy can tell the difference between Super-unleaded and standard which in NI is probably 97 v's 95 in her Rover 100 which I did find surprising.

Not from a Performance or MPG viewpoint but simply the car felt smoother and less Jerky AND she noticed this without any knowledge I had refilled with different fuel, Mrs Exy doesn't refuel her own car she has a butler

hahah nothing says "bellend" more than Prestige car branded clothing

My thoughts are that nothing says "bellend" more than a grown man wearing a football top when not actually playing football.

Stainless steel is corrosion resistant, not corrosion proof...  And depending on the grade it is resistant to a great or lesser extent.

Go back 40 years and in many cases we put new exhaust on cars inside 3 or 4 years from new.  We can't really complain about systems that are lasting over 20 years.

If a quality stainless system HAD been fitted there is a very real likelihood it would last the life of the car and certainly well in excess of 20 years.

S/S's ability to resist corrosion/oxidation is measurably better than the coated steels used in this example.

As far as the warranty the conditions are pretty clear it’s not covered it says so .Unfortunate sure / Yes . Not disputing that .It’s on the exclusion list that the OP has entered into contract with the warranty Co .

I fear BB has hit the bolt on the head and your best hope is to embarrass them into repairing/replacing as a gesture of good will.

Best of luck with that but as always if you don't ask etc.

Next time folks get the cover off ( seat ) lub up all those pulleys and exercise   that tensioner .

Even better do it when you are fitting an under drive pulley, IMHO it's up there in the top five best modifications you can do, maybe not to a 981 but on a 986/7 it's epic :)

Nope. Looking at the workshop manual I think it’s a “if needed”catch all re the tensioner, pulleys etc , I didn’t see anything re that bolt specifically but it was a wine o’clock.

Does a new tensioner come with a new/replacement bolt?

Is that a stretch bolt, if not it's like an episode of Wheeler Dealers.

Now, whenever I see a Orang Utan, I'll think of you.

    That's the fellas

Don't think I've ever seen the advert, thanks for that.

To be fair anytime I see Bob Hoskins on the TV it reminds me of you.

And Robert Kilroy Silk is a blinder for @Menoporsche

    Funny old world  :)

I believe wet and dry grip are similar but Michelin win on longevity. Which is relevant for a daily saloon but not for the Boxsters that do 2-4k per year.

Providing they aren't something like twice the price I would pick Michelins everytime.

    I really rate Uniroyal Rainsports

A friend of my Pop's had a tyre place back in the day and he was a real character, fond of the Guinness too.

Anywho he had a UniRoyal cardboard advertising sign which was an orangutan on a tyre swing which he let me have, pretty sure I still have it somewhere. Might put it in my man-cave if I can find it :)

I had flakens on the front of my 987.2S in 19” size - good wet and dry grip and never found the limits of them when I was driving - sometimes the ratings of mid range tyres are on par or better than more expensive tyres. No right or wrong answer, whatever your preference

Was there bits falling off them
