spyderman8
Isn't it a faff getting the air locks out? Is that why they charge a fortune?
ooid
Over-priced. I would not. Well, my coolant has been changed at OPC once and they could not bleed it properly so it overflow twice later on. My indie sorted out later much better, I believe there were some specific steps online somewhere how to bleed it properly with ideal revs. Find those steps, and go to an indie or specialist that you trust, there is no point overspending that money on OPC, pointless. edc
You may find these prices are already 'discounted' when taken with a service. On their own they may cost more. But for a 986 why you would do this sort of maintenance at an OPC is beyond me.
Boxstercol
Surely it can't be much more than that for a waterpump change which will result in new coolant anyhow, or am I being naive??
RickLS7
I changed my coolant earlier this year while replacing the thermostat and water pump and was surprisingly easy. I bought 25 litres of demineralised water, drained the coolant, filled with water and revved and refilled as recommended to get the air out, drained it and refilled with new coolant doing the same as above to get the air out before taking it for a short run. Afterwards I ran the car with the pressure valve open for a few days and 5 litres of coolant at hand but it didn't require further top ups. Maybe the S might be a little susceptible to airlocks due to the 3rd radiator but mine was dead easy. The water and coolant came to just under £50, the low temp thermostat was about £35 and the water pump (with the composite impeller) was £135. Boxob
I had this done on my 986 at an OPC earlier this year. Cost a bit over £200 inc VAT for coolant and labour.
