I'm not sure there ever was an easily saveable (eg PDF) version of the UK 981 price list.

However ... if you have or can find a valid code for the configurator for a similar car, you can still get in, and although you can't re-build a different spec, you can backtrack to the earlier pages and see how much the various options would have cost. Some of the option costs (eg wheels and some of the interior packages) vary depending on which model you start with, and you cannot change that in the configurator, so for these you need to start with a code for the appropriate model:

eg for Boxster try: http://www.porsche-code.com/PF7PMRX6
S: http://www.porsche-code.com/PG414WT1
GTS:  http://www.porsche-code.com/PF94QKC9
Spyder: http://www.porsche-code.com/PGW3XAD2

BTW I think these codes all currently work although apparently they expire after a certain time (the website says 12 months but I think it might be longer than that).

I don't know the OP's reason for asking, but one reason could be to see what the original showroom price of a now-secondhand car would have been ...

EDIT: As of March 2018, the above method no longer works, as Porsche seem to have ultimately disabled access to the 981 configurator data. If anybody wants to know the prices from around 2015/16 of various 981 options that aren't in Leonard's list above, I have a note of most of them.

Exactly, thanks for the links Jon, just spent a happy 15 mins totting up how much money I saved (someone spent over 13k miles) LOL

Bit of a poor show that the original owner didnt quite tip it over the £60k mark though. To get there I would have quite happily added heated seats and torque vectoring for him ;)

As above, thanks for the links @Jon61. Interesting spending a bit of time totting all the options up to get an approximate cost when originally supplied. Looks like I got approx 12.5k worth of extra goodies ?

That is fantastic, I've used it to fully price up the options list on my new car, thank you

  • 1 year later...

Leonards list grabbed most of mine, however all the links are now broken.

Jon would you mind adding a code/price to the following.

Part painted wheels in gloss black

PDLS headlights

Isofix

Leather sports seats with crest

PSE with sports tips

Sports Chrono

Metallic paint (Rhodium)

Colour wheel centres

Roll bar painted external colour

Speed limit display

GT wheel with paddles

Silver tyre valve sleeves

Bluetooth music and external input - seem to recall this was another option too ?

Haha, I like the way you say his list included most of your options, but then give another long list of ones it omitted  - you've got another exceptionally well-specced car there!

As best as I can tell, your listed options are as follows:

Part painted wheels in gloss black I think this is XDA Black painted wheels (partially) Exclusive: £801 - includes full-colour wheel centres. This was black gloss spokes but unpainted rim. The alternative was XDG Black (painted wheels but with unpainted polished front surfaces) : also £801 including full-colour wheel centres

PDLS headlights 603 Bi-Xenon Headlights incl. Dynamic Light System (PDLS) : £477 (on an S, which already has the bi-xenons)

Isofix 899 ISOFIX for passenger side : £122

Leather sports seats with crest I think this is probably P04 Sports Seats Plus (2-way, electric) : £546 (on an S) - these were leather whereas the standard P08 Sports Seats (2-way, electric) were not leather. PLUS XSC Porsche crest embossed on head rests Exclusive : £138

PSE with sports tips XLF Sports exhaust system (incl. sports tailpipe) Exclusive : £1,530

Sports Chrono 640 Sport Chrono Package i.c.w. PCM : £1,085

Metallic paint (Rhodium) S2 Rhodium Silver metallic : £558

Colour wheel centres Would normally be 446 Set of Wheel Centres : £110 BUT option XDA (or XDG) included these

Roll bar painted external colour 546 Roll-over bar with exterior colour paint finish : £344

Speed limit display 631 Speed limit display £284

GT wheel with paddles 840 SportDesign Steering Wheel : £248

Silver tyre valve sleeves I don't think these were an option as such - probably a dealer-fitted accessory?

Bluetooth music and external input - seem to recall this was another option too ? Not sure about this one. I don't think that PCM (even with Bose) gives you bluetooth music input, just the USB socket. So I think this is dependent instead on what phone interface you have, even though neither of the two descriptions mention using the bluetooth connection for music (but I think I can do so with mine). The two options were: 619 Preparation for mobile phone : £446 OR 666 Telephone Module : £527. The differences get fairly technical but I think 446 only allows use of the 'hands-free profile' in mobile-phone-speak (where the phone's aerial is still used), whereas 666 allows either that or 'SIM access profile' (where the car's aerial is used instead). Possibly more obvious, I think (but am not 100% sure) that only 666 gives you the SIM slot at the base of the PCM facia.

Thanks Jon, I need to do a bit of checking now.  Leaonard's car is very well optioned, his has bits, mine doesn't however in the main we both share the "must haves ".

Blinding Stuart - I was cursing myself for not picking them up when I was looking at buying new !

Well that was very educational - and WAY more options than OPC advertised her with !

Not sure exactly when the GTS was released, however I'm sure it would have been a cheaper purchase !

I intend to list all the options on my "Alice" owners thread, but I now know I have the sports + seats, and the 666 phone option.

REALLY appreciate your help gents.  I shall print of the brochures when I'm next stuck in a conference call and read them too.

list of loads of Porsche brochures here

http://www.auto-brochures.com/porsche.html

And more available at https://www.stuttcars.com/technical/catalogues/

But @Patt if you want lots of reading matter relevant to your car, you might also want to download two more that don't appear to be on either of those sites:

Exclusive Boxster 2014 brochure: http://porsche.knowitjonkoping.se/globalassets/modeller/boxster/boxster/broschyrer/exclusive-boxster.pdf

Tequipment Boxster 2014 brochure: http://www.porsche.dk/globalassets/brochurer/tequipment-boxster.pdf

(Despite the hosting sites, these are both the English language versions, for the European market)

If your silver tyre valve sleeves also have crested valve caps, then they are on p22 of the Tequipment brochure. No price shown there but £42 for set of 4 according to the Porsche Tequipment site. But do you realise that there are black ones available that might perhaps go better with your wheels? :) (http://content.eu.porsche.com/prod/pag/tequipment/TeqFinder.nsf/TeqFinder?ReadForm&ma=PCGB (RL)&co=30&sp=1&ba=Boxster&bt=981&mo=Boxster S&ka=All&pr=B82E48F854AAA44AC1257F07004B1426&ac=product Note that there are different caps for cars with TPMS - I think the manual says not to use metal caps with TPMS for some reason)

You may also want to have a look at this post of mine too from another thread and download the 'Service Information - 2013 Technik Introduction' pdf it mentions. This requires you to register with Planet-9.com but it's worth doing so to get it as it has some interesting trechnical background to the 981.

And I suspect you would also find interesting the Workshop Manual linked in the first post in this Planet-9 thread too - it's a 6,000 page document so probably best not to try to download it on your phone!  :

http://www.planet-9.com/981-cayman-and-boxster-service-and-tech/211225-981-workshop-manual-2013-2016-cayman-boxster-free-download.html

That lot should keep you busy for a while; I hope you have a lot of conference calls :)

I've still not read all the owners manual and it's various sub books !

This will keep me busy, especially as it's too cold/wet to even clean her at the moment.

That's the caps and I did think they suited the winters better than the summers.  But at £42 for a cheaply painted piece of plastic, I'll pass on buying another set !

I'm saving for X73 and the Tequipment rear lights ;-)

Cheaply painted aluminium actually :P

X73 is a horrendous price to have retrofitted compared to optioning it on a new car! Can you just get the parts and DIY?

Presumably you can just fit the smoked taillights yourself - though the Tequipment page mentions "fitting and painting" - not sure what painting they think is involved?

I'm under warranty so I have to tread carefully when it comes to changing stuff.  However, I have no intention of paying OPC to fit and I have no intention of paying RRP either ;-)

I'll probably get Revolution to fit the suspension whilst on a service. Especially as they have the alignment kit and can do the whole thing in one go.

The lights I'll do myself.
