Withy
my 987.1S has really lazy seatbelts - they hardly recoil at all. Any fixes?
Jason986S
Can have the tensioners serviced if you send them off to a belt specialist. Mine were done when the previous owner had the belts re-webbed from black to red straps.
Gcar
Try degreasing them
Boxstercol
My drivers side belt is the same, would be interested in understanding how people have resolved...
Lonewolfgjp
+1 on lazy seat belt return, the wife always comments every time we use the car?
Withy
So I'm trying this have washed them today, and the other thing folks say is use a silicone lubricant. They are drying at the moment, will see if this improves things. It's pretty gross when you see how much dirt comes off them!
pgk188
I used a light spray of silicone lubricant - it seemed to do the the trick
Sazzy
My drivers one was like this, in the end it pretty much wouldn't retract at all and clearly would be good for nothing in an accident! I tried all of the above but it made no difference, in the end I had to get a new one fitted.

I suspect it works for some causes but not others.
Lonewolfgjp
I tried a bit of silicone spray but it made no difference, they retract if you pull them and feed them back but I suspect the retracting spring is knackered ?
MartinF6
I have used this company a few years ago, they were quick and reasonably priced http://www.quickfitsbs.com/about_us.php
Withy
The soaking/washing of seatbelt hasn't made any noticeable difference. Will get some silicone lubricant and try that
Withy
So I got some de-greaser (this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000IU3VWQ) and it's made a decent difference for sure. I used the same method as the video posted above, soaking - this time used some white vinegar and fairy liquid, but just prior to that, I used the degreaser - just sprayed on the seatbelt, left for a while and then used a soft scrubbing brush with the belt pulled all the way out. It's still not brilliant - but a lot better than it was - I'll probably repeat the process this week and see if it makes a further improvement. (Other threads seem to suggest that the loops at shoulder height can be smoothed to ease the return more - will also do that)
Carlos Garcia
I did the wash in a bucket trick and seat belts were much better. Worth trying. Give them a good scrub with a nail brush. I did that last summer and still fine although I feel it lacks conviction so maybe I will scrub again once the sun returns...
andygo
I did the wash and silcone spray thing. It works, obviously not like a brand new belt, but pretty good and cheap!
Gcar
You need a degreaser like the ones they use in a body shop, Glasso 360/75 or Sikkens remover.
