Carrera S 20s - Remove Diamond Cut Edge

Hey all,

Really not liking the diamond cut edge on my alloys. See below - is it possible to get these painted?

love idea of having them satin dark grey (oem) colour - love to see photos of people have these!

1. Not sure if you can paint the diamond cut edge

2. The centre caps won’t match (if I change the colour) and can I get new ones to match and at what cost?

these are my alloys, I attached another images with a car I seen in all black wheels.

love to also see shots of the satin ones 😛

^^^ This.

I have 19” Spyders on mine for summer use - black with a silver rim.

My winters are Cayman S that I had refurbed to solid black.

The Spyders look much better to me as all black just merges in.

That said it’s personal preference of course.  I’m sure any decent wheel refurbisher would be able to strip back to bare alloy and finish in whatever colour you like.

A contrast shot showing my two wheel styles...

I think black alloys are better with the silver or diamond cut edge, solid black looks too heavy.

But yes you can powder coat over your diamond cut edges and change the colour no problem.

I am also a big fan of the satin grey colour used on the GT3/Cayman GT4 alloys. I think it would work well on your alloys and be a good contrast with the black body👍

+1 for diamond cut edge. Also I think trying to just do that part of the rim will work, they will have to clean and abrade it to get the paint to stick and it would need to be done by hand so as not damage the rest, just can;t see it working or being viable for the painter, much quicker and easier to remove the lot and guarantee no peeling issues through lack of adhesion.

Got to say I prefer the contrast myself, but each to their own. Maybe you could put on of those rim protection strips on to cover the silver part, they you have the option of comparing first?

Otherwise any decent Wheel place can strip and powder coat in whatever colour you like, cheap centre caps are available on the bay for all standard Porsche colours.

I have the exact same wheels and personally like the silver edge, but everyone has their own tastes.

Not sure where you are located, but if you areLondon/Home Counties then I highly recommend Chris at Exel Wheels. Pretty sure he can change your wheels as required

Yes you can have them refurbed in any colour you like.  OEM centre caps will be £100+ from the OPC.  You can get silver replicas from a chap on here for £15 and it would be difficult to notice any difference.
