Hello,

Do most use Unleaded or Super Unleaded?

Reading this seems that unless you are ragging it, Unleaded is fine and will save you £.

Regards

Rather than reading what the RAC says have a read of your owner's manual see what it says and then go from there?

Fuel Recommendations
Your Porsche is equipped with catalytic
converters and must use UNLEADED FUEL
WITHOUT METALLIC ADDITIVES ONLY.
Your engine is designed to provide optimum
performance and fuel economy using unleaded
premium fuel with an octane rating of 98 RON/
88 MON (93 CLC or AKI). Porsche therefore
recommends the use of these fuels in your
vehicle.
Porsche also recognizes that these fuels may not
always be available. Be assured that your vehicle
will operate properly on unleaded premium fuels
with octane numbers of at least 95 RON/
85 MON (90 CLC or AKI), since the engine’s
“Electronic Octane™ knock control” will adapt the
ignition timing, if necessary.
If fuels of less than 95 RON/85 MON (90 CLC
or AKI) are used however, this could reduce
performance and increase fuel consumption.

E10 petrol has been used on the Continent for some years, most notably in France and Belgium, where it is sold alongside E5. But while it is not currently offered in the UK, there is no legal reason why it could not be.

I’m sure we have 5% Ethanol in the UK (E5) and it is available in 95RON, 97RON,99RON and 100RON dependant on supplier and product. I found my boxster ran like a dog on Tesco 99 yet is always perfectly happy on normal 95RON. When new, I ran it in on the Shell premium stuff. When I switched over to normal fuels it made not one jot of difference in fuel economy. Mine is however a daily driver and I don’t come close to the engine’s performance capability for more than a few seconds at a time.

so UK 95RON is really 99RON due to 5% Ethanol?

No, it is the 'super unleaded' fuels that are now mostly 99RON E5.  95 even though it is E5 is still 95.

Personally V-Power all the time in mine unless in France where you can only get it at a King's ransom on the autoroute network when I still use 99 from other Premium brands.

What's the point?

PDK is clearly far superior 🤔

if you dont really like driver involvement`, sure

we all know its the lazy option as 90% of buyers believe the Porsche BS ;)

aka faster, better mpg etc etc

just an excuse to cream you for an extra £2200 when I bought mine

V Power for me. Mind you, I do a few track days, so hopefully the Shell 99 does the job.

There is an interesting video on Youtube from the chap that runs Bamford Rose (Aston Martin Specialist) suggesting that ESSO super unleaded is the one to go for as it doesnt have any "E" content.

Sorry, I cant copy and paste it because I'm useless. Worth watching though.

"Esso super unleaded petrol (Synergy Supreme+ Unleaded 97) is ethanol free (except in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside area and Scotland). We would therefore advise anyone who has concerns about the presence of ethanol in petrol to use Synergy Supreme+ – providing they do not fill up in Devon or Cornwall, the Teesside area or Scotland." - straight from Esso Website - not that I use Esso or even 97 - I have run my Boxster on 95 since December (when I bought it) and only used 2 maybe 3 tanks of Super, unless you're racing it on a track is it worth it?
