beaks
Ok, here's one for you... Found this joker floating around in the storage area above the engine cover - Part number is 986.551.511.00 - although I can't find anything that links to it... Clearly not a life changer, but would be interested to know what it is! (Oh, and what are you supposed to store in that cubby hole aside from a flat cap and a frisbee!?) Thanks as always, Ian B
Menoporsche
I think you're supposed to store the wind deflector. Not that I know anyone who takes it off while driving. Is it linked to that?
½cwt
It is part of the subwoofer box. Item 19 on this drawing described as 'guide rail'.

topradio
I wonder if your car has had a Bose rear speaker shelf fitted in the past and somebody has removed it (they fetch good money) and replaced it with the standard shelf with the sliding doors. Paul P
Other than frisbees and caps (and wind deflectors) I find the cubby holes good for high vis vests (legal requirement for some European countries that be available inside the car) and a bottle of factor 30 sun cream and the beanie hat for those roof down days (depending on the season )
