SuperPaulie
Can this part be replaced? I guess it's a bush, basically a slither of metal to shim it. Looks like it should be a bearing or something else, this has gotta be prone to wear. Gear link
SuperPaulie
no one ever tried to remove this play? im surprised! removing this play will surely have a magnified effect way down the line at the stick. I might try to fabricate my own brass shim or something for it...

PaulQ
Someone might have done it, though I'm not aware. This forum doesn't have a great deal of technical stuff compared to some others.

The American are a bit more adventurous, or at least like to talk about it. Also renntech.org might have something if you've not been there before. SuperPaulie
cheers fellas, i'll check it out. It seems like the bush could be an easily replaceable part, but i dont think its available so would have to be formed in-house, so to speak. edc
Could you use some small circlips?
jonogt6
Ahhh yes I remember that little bracket when I replaced my shifter cables. Mine also had a slight amount of play and I do wonder if even new ones have some slight movement. A new piece is terrifyingly expensive at about £500 if I remember correctly. Stiffkey
I'm a little confused on what part you are aiming to replace? Are you talking about the bronze outer ring or the silver dowel pin with circlip groove?
SuperPaulie
Basically between the bronze outer and the pivot there is a cylindrical bush or shim that wears and allows the play you see in the video. I assume so anyways, I can't see this play being factory.

Gear link Take it to your local engineering shop, soon knock a new bush up, so long as it’s the bush not the pin that’s worn
