Thanks as I have a 2.7 too and much as I’d love a drive to Bruges/Brugge, I think a day at Revolution makes more sense.

Same here.

.... which kind of makes me think valved is the way to go. Design911 got back to me, they think they should have some valved DesignTeks "soon" but that's not giving me much confidence. Will have a chat with the Indy to see what sort of system they can do if I don't source something.

It looks exactly like the same one As a Spyder Performance (Eporsche) have one fitted to mine in replace of the OE PSE, now it has done a few miles not boomy, just awesome? now have some Carnewal 200 cell manifolds to fit, should be epic!!

Thanks for all the advice. I spoke to a few owners in person, a local Indy and tried a few specialists, only one of whom actually called me back. I stuck with my DesignTek exhaust which showed up today so I’m all good for it to be fitted in a couple of weeks.

Where did you manage to locate the designtek could I ask?

From Design911. Someone on here was quoted May for delivery, but they've obviously got stock quicker than expected and they do have a sale on just now to get a 7% or so discount. Best bet is to get the part number and give them a call as there's no way of telling what's in stock from the website.

It was me, and mine arrived yesterday too. I assembled it last night and spent some time looking at the quality of the welding, but eventually had to move it off the front room carpet after one of the kids fell over it. Thankfully nothing was damaged....and the kid was okay too.

I’m booked in for fitting the pipes next Thursday but I’ll have to do the wiring and vacuum tubing myself, so busy trying to find decent instructions.

Glad to hear you’ve got yours too. I’m going to have a look for the instructions too although my car isn’t going in for a couple of weeks yet.

This was what I had bookmarked: https://www.design911.co.uk/uploads/pdfs/VALVETRONIC_DESIGNTEK.pdf

Thanks @Ascender, I saw those, and get the general principles of the plumbing, but not the specifics. Where is the “solenoid on intake manifold” for example? Where do you pick up the switched ignition live? Where do you site the control box etc etc.

I had mine done by local Indy who’s done a few he reckons. Control box is fitted just above the battery and power taken directly from battery. Not what I was anticipating but seems to work. Especially in tunnels 😁

Does that not create a constant live?

That was my concern and why I said not what I was anticipating. Car is used daily at the moment and when it was a second car (pre-exhaust change) I always had it on a trickle charger which would be the case again if it gets demoted to second car. As such it's probably not going to be an issue for me but the placement of the control box is quite good as the little bit of cable it uses for an aerial is close to the key fob to switch the exhaust.

The garage that fitted mine ran it to the Cigarette lighter not realising that it stays live if something is connected.  My battery was draining over the space of 4-5 days of no movement.  Id suggest that you get that changed to a different power source as it will eventually cause issues.

A few people have suggested that you use the courtesy light in the boot.  My garage were not keen and they found an unused telephone control unit under the centre console.  They added some sort of additional fuse to it and tapped into that

Thanks for the replies @MickHand @nick997. My control box looks like it needs to be connected to the new solenoid so if it is placed near the front of the car, I’d need to run the wires all the way back to the engine bay.

I was hoping to either fit the control box in the engine bay (but I’m worried about the heat in there), or behind the carpet in the boot (under the boot light) or under the carpet behind the driver’s seat (with the cabling coming out of the side of the engine access panel there).

I’m going ahead with the exhaust fitting anyway, and I’ll figure out the rest afterwards.

Based on Mick’s comments it looks like my best bet is to take a feed from windscreen washer heater for switched live. Not looked at it yet, just Google info. If either of you go for a front fitting for the control box.

Where would be a good place to take a 987.2 for one of these exhaust upgrades in the South East (Essex/London/Kent area) ?

If the travel restrictions ease up soon I'm tempted to drive down to Gert on my way home to the Netherlands as it's not to far from my neck of the woods, but all depends on when we can travel again. Though if that's not an option I'll need to find an indie/specialist that can either modify my exhaust, or fit one of those valved ones mentioned in this thread.
