Check the Bluetooth valve controlled Spyder Performance one from Eporsche of memory £700 very well made but maybe a little rorty for use must admit mine has mellowed a little with use

Don't seem to currently have any for 987? checked their shop on eBay and website, no mention of it. I have emailed both on Monday, but no response back from them yet.

Have looked at both Designtek and Topgear, but the SpyderPerformance price was a fair bit cheaper and looked the same.

Fingers crossed they come back up for sale.

Exhaust

I did alright then!! In fact when they arrived there was a slight dent in one of the Boxes on the top, spoke to Dean at Eporsche, just to say he needs to be more careful with his packaging, and he sent me a front coffin in lieu of compensation, which I wasn’t asking for......Top service!!

the bypass mod is by far and away the best option in my opinion. If you can wait until one of the favoured specialists (Carnewal/Revolution/Eporch/Cotswold) has a decent exhaust available to work on then I would go for that. A previous car I owned came with the DesignTek exhaust, this was also very good. Do not be tempted to go for any of the 'cheap' ebay specials!..drone at most speeds etc

What is different between the 987.1

2.7/3.2/3.4 exhaust apart from the tips?

If you could source a 3.4 exhaust with tips then it will fit your car no issues?

Also if you did go down the valved route I can vouch for @bally4563 as his exhaust sounds epic when turned on.

However the best sounding car that I have heard and driven in 987 flavour had to be @CliveH's 987.1 with carnewal mod it was tame until you kicked those cams at mid revs and the crackle that came with it shifting down or engine braking into corners was the best.

Can get the Top Gear Valved one for £900 free delivery via a guy on a Porsche FB group.

Please do your due diligence and don't be scammed sending money in advance on a promise of a delivery.

Yes mate I know, he's sold quite a few. Might be a bid too loud for me though, worried about the drone that gets mentioned.

The non valved TG definitely drones - bought mine direct as i live about 15 minutes from TG and they had to have the car in and modify the exhaust to fix it. That's why i recommended the valved version which should solve the issue. Mine sounded absolutely fantastic under load (as other Southwest forumites will confirm), it was just unbearable at around 40-50 mph.

Interesting. Do you know what they did? And just as importantly why don't do it to all of them. It's a bargain if they can make it droneless. If that's a word.

No, but it took them about 6 hours! I suspect they cut it open and added some baffles. It toned down the 'rortiness' but that was a price worth paying to get rid of the drone which was like having someone thumping a big bass drum on my shoulder! They reckoned they hadn't had one like that before, but who knows how may complain. I was fortunate that i'm local and had used the local Porsche indy to fit it, plus i had direct contact to the Sales Director who'd organised a group buy on 911UK, which i'd tapped into.

If you can afford it, the good systems are worth it. You can sell them on if you are so inclined should you change the car in a short period of time and if the car is going to be in your ownership for a while, them man maths apply. In the land of Blackpool’s finest, there is a company that sells expensive systems with a great reputation but having had nearly as good and the real thing, it’s definitely worth the extra.

my 996 has a design tek supremacy and I don’t recommend that!

😁 true.

but it’s lockdown so a bit risky travelling all that way ☹️ although with the amount of traffic on the roads you wouldn’t know.

I had to wait about two months though as he was that busy, youd have to contact him to book it in
