Adrian Major
Found a possible 987 to buy here. Has Bose and big exhaust and like the paintwork. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202104111244114?fromSavedAds=true&advertising-location=at_cars Know you lot like to scrutinise ads and find pros and cons which have found really useful. Saying that, one could look past the advert and the icky tyre dressing and judge the car on its own merits. It might be a good 'un. 36 minutes ago, Adrian Major said: Found a possible 987 to buy here. Steve Laming
The usual stuff when cars get this age/mileage is that they normally require a suspension refresh. Ask if anything shows in the service history about suspension work.
minimoog
Has climate, doesn't have extended leather. It's got rear PDC too, not that that would sway me in the slightest. Roof needs a new bit of knicker lacky to keep it inside the window frames. Easy fix. The big question is do you want a Tip. I've never driven one, nor would I particularly want to. Dealer has just said the button that unlocks the bonnet does not work and they dont have time to fix so will reduce the price to cover. Anyone know how much that would be. Obs you can still open with a key.
Menoporsche
Careful, a new key is over 200 quid, sometimes 300.

Ninesomething
I've only ever owned 2 automatics and I broke both of them. One was a tip. No-one else seems to be able to break them though. It was fun when I first got it. Wouldn't have another, not because of reliability but just seems a bit old hat now with pdk. None of those within budget though. Menoporsche
is it the switch or the solenoid? Can't help with prices sorry.
Paul P
Having seen ( heard) bose in a 987.1 vs the sound package plus in a 987.2 it wouldn't be something I was interested in - also - if you want to improve the sound or change out the head unit having bose makes it more complex and more expensive to do. Whats the feeling from those with BOSE - worth it vs SPP or not ?
Menoporsche
I have it but only switch the sound system on when stuck in traffic jams.
89rallye
mine is a tip and to be honest i find it fine around the twistys, long run it really could have done with a 6th gear my only gripe, not sure about the switch

What do you think??? Cheers Adrian I'd suggest the one at Paul French for £1000 more is a lot better bet - sorry! Better spec, lower miles, buying from someone who knows Porsches - thats worth the extra alone (i know its over budget) - if you can, go and see both and see which feels right for you - end of the day, you'll still be driving a Porsche with a big stupid grin on your face

Adrian Major
This looks interesting purchase option. Anyone know the dealer? https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/11472071
Paul P
Not heard of them. Personally don’t like the style of the advert. In one sentence they have said all 3.4 987s are rubbish and so are all 986’s want to bet they don’t say that when they are selling a 3.4 to you ? as I say never heard of them good or bad but my first reaction to that was “cowboys” but maybe I am over reacting if you like the look of the car and it ticks the boxes consider getting a pre Purchase inspection done for a bit of extra confidence
red rocket
Their Truspilot reviews look good but there are many of them. Car looks good so would be worth talking to them to form your own opinion.

Its was the only thing that held me back but everything I have read does not put me off. My daily driver before I bought a Tip had the same basic ZF 5HP box. Which worked just fine on that BMW. But I found the Porsche installation annoyed me. Overall gearing too low meaning fussy cruising on motorways. So low it is designed to start in second gear in normal use. And changed down far too readily, even again in normal use. Non of which I really noticed in the usual short test drive. It annoyed me so much I traded in this mint well equipped low miles for a 987.2 PDK after only a year. And I normally keep cars a long time.
