981 Sports Design / GTS bumper retrofit

Awesome job.  Those behind the bumper grilles way better than Zunsports (which look a bit disjointed compared to yours)
That's a sh!t ton of parts you had to get for what I'm guessing you thought would be a rip and replace job.  Well worth it though - looks fantastic!

Thanks chaps, I'll give you a run down of the parts at some point, not exactly cheap but the value Vs improvement for me is clear to see.

My justification for it is that I've been driving it for over 5 years now and it just hasn't depreciated, keeping it looking good saves me from buying something else like a Carerra T.  I think I'll hang onto it because it still makes me happy.

The existing bumper needed a paint anyway after terrorising local 911s so the timing was right.

The bumper was very good value on its own but the large plastic pieces are overpriced.

However, the piece I got in Germany was a great find. It's literally the most expensive part and I was lucky that it was priced very nicely and the chap took pity on me and went out of his way to send it over! You could mesh over the gap and save money.

My local dealer is kind with some discounts probably because I'm always there and actually some of the bits you don't see closely are only £35 ea or so.

Could you do a listing of the parts required and prices. I appreciate its cheeky given all of your research, but I'm seeing things in a different light after carrying out your headlamp upgrade mod, lol!

I'm going to be asked this over and over so I'll cover it in a follow video to save me answering it too many times and it gives me an opportunity to make another video over winter when nothing is happening.

Looks very nice and I admire your intention but it now looks like a GTS but it’s not a GTS. Why not just trade it in for the GTS? It reminds of the days when Ford Escort 1.3GL models were pimped up to look like XR3i’s. I had a Manta GT that I made look like a GTE. It only set me up to being negged!
Good looking car though and you’ve spent some serious dollar on it.

very sexy (the car)  looking very good mate.  But you my friend have the patience of well  whats the most patient thing on earth,  waiting for the parts and then the actual fitment.  do like the look mean look at the front and the black accents really compliment it.

Hi all, there has been a big gap since my last video, this one will probably explain why!

How do you think it turned out?

You spend money & time to good effect. I haven't the skills or patience to do this transformative stuff.

You have a handsome car, but I'm not sure how you'd get on selling it, as you've taken it quite a distance from its root.

I'm certain you'll make a fine advertisement when you sell. Your videos are good to watch.

I've heard this a couple of times, and not to sound grumpy but I have to admit it grates on me. The answer to your question is quite simple I don't want to, I've chosen to improve and enhance mine in a way that allows me to enjoy and appreciate it more. I can't justify the uplift against the specification and history of mine. I know it and I trust it.

I should also clarify that this bumper is fitted to the GTS as standard but it's not necessarily a GTS bumper, officially it's known as part of the Sports Design package. Porsche also allows you to spec these packages on the configurator and buy them as packages from their Techequipment catalogue.

If someone retrofits PSE or even cruise control it's exactly the same.

Mine has a mix of OEM parts fitted that make it quite individual to me and because of that it qualifies for official warranty and could even be retailed as approved used.

Cheers I enjoy it to be honest.

Would the OEM parts I've fitted put you off the car? It's all documented and I have every single original part neatly stored in that cupboard you see behind the car in my garage to return to standard if necessary.

A bit of a non issue anyway because I want to hold on it.

Great job Daz and I have been tempted to do the same - the GTS front does look great and it looks like youve done a cracking job.

I have also been having some similar thoughts to you about alternatives recently and have been very tempted by a couple of Carrera T's but think I like the 981 too much.

Enjoy the upgrades!!

👍 go for it! The 991.2 is a cracker I really enjoyed it, the Carerra T seems like a nice sweet spot. I maintain that the 981 is a better Porsche to drive than the 991.1 though.

Great video and mod but please could you cover the zip on coat, was cringing every time you got near car 😂😂

If you think that's bad never watch the video of me removing the engine cover. Somehow I've gotten away with it.

😂 I always hold my breath when Daz is leaning over the paint work in his parka with the zip.

If I’m working on the car in hoodie with a zip, I normally stick a bit of masking tap over the zip 😉

Well it's all coming out now 😂I'll have you know my paint work is top notch, just a shame my zip is scratched to f*#&
