hopz121
Hi all, What are peoples thoughts on this? Thanks Ash https://www.eporsch.co.uk/listings/2006-55-reg-porsche-boxster-3-2-987-s-2dr/
Menoporsche
Eporsch are trusted here. Seems well specced. I just can't get over prices in the last 18 months... but I gather that's in line with them.
Paul P
Pretty, well specced, ad reads well. EPORSCH have a good reputation. MOT history looks healthy. Usual unwritten stuff.... "what is in the service history other than oil changes and stamps in a book" - suspension, a/c, brakes, transmission fluid changes, belt, plugs, air filters, battery etc. Its listed as having BOSE, but has a replacement head unit, so functions like fade, and control over subwoofer and rear speakers is potentially lost. Also, has drivers seat memory - which combined with Sports Chronos probably means, if it originally came with PCM then some of the "toy" value there is lost - no big thing - but (assuming a .1 is like a .2 in this respect) you get to fiddle with things like how long interior lights stay on for and when do the doors auto lock and stuff. Functionality of a decent head unit likely outweighs this - but some folks have been a little disappointed to lose control over the BOSE setup. Purely personal "bias" - I don't like the yellow instrument dials - and if they are after market I would have personal concern about who has had their fingers in the cluster and is everything nicely put back together - but that's 1) me and 2) not exactly a deal breaker. Codfanglers
Love the colour. A dealer's opinion on whether it's desirable however would depend on if they were buying or selling. Even with the spec, at £14k for an 17 year old car with middling mileage and the way prices are heading, it looks at least £3k overpriced to me. Rob™
I’m sure it’s a hoot, and I like the colour. Sounds like some of the usual age related problems have been sorted, worth enquiring about the others… I spent £12k on a 987 a few years ago and then another £3k on fixing stuff. Boxer boy
Couple of grand more gets you into a 2.9 from 09 onwards .Much better on a lot of levels namely the engine re design. One here for a grand more . https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202206227034345?postcode=ng15ga&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=price-asc&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&price-from=500&include-delivery-option=on&year-to=2011&radius=1500&model=Boxster&make=Porsche&year-from=2009&page=1&percentVehiclePriceDeposit=true Edited September 2, 2022 by Boxer boy
And.rs1800
I’d be very interested in that if I was looking for a Boxster-love speed yellow!
Robster66
Looks like a good example and well specced especially in speed yellow which is like marmite, but looks great But for me litronics are a must

½cwt
The one that caught my eye was their 'recently added' 2000 986S which with 38k miles is listed only £1k less than this car. That one IS overpriced!
dave Morgan
Looks like a decent enough car, sensible milage and good spec. Priced as a dealer car, so you could buy similar for less with a private sale. Colour is one of those love it or hate it ones...strictly personal.

hopz121
Thanks for the replies so far guys, the comments are echoing my thoughts on the car. My main concern is the price as it seems expensive in the current market which looks set to drop soon even lower so it could be a very expensive car then. The main attraction to me is the colour and the spec and also the fact its up the road form my house. The car will be daily driven and i expect to loose some money but don't really want to loose to much. I am away at the end of the week and very busy so i may see if its around when i come back and go from there.

If ownership of this car (to you) is worth "losing" £3-4k when you drive it away from the dealer, then it is worth it. Are you intending to park your 718 GTS in the garage to preserve it's value and drive this 987 instead? I think you'd need to be fairly creative with the man maths to make that worthwhile. Ninesomething
I bought my car from them. Similar spec/mileage almost a year ago. It was priced somewhat lower than that and they gave me an excellent trade in price. Either they think that the colour is going to sell it or they think prices are still going up. I don't think that's particularly expensive for that car from a specialist. Sure you can buy an S for a lot less than that but I don't see any with that spec for much less. They have never totally succeeded in eliminating the knock I get from the rear suspension when I drive it for the first few miles but in fairness neither has anyone else. They tried hard though - they've replaced just about very component back there and never complained - they just did it.
And.rs1800
Am I imagining it or was this up for £13999 originally? Edited September 5, 2022 by And.rs1800

The GTS is too nice to daily with the miles I am planning on doing in this. It cost over 4x the cost of this. Also parking on a side road in London daily with it isn’t going to happen! Ideally I’d like a decent cayman but they seem hard to find with spec and they didn’t make a reliable S until the gen

Yep definitely not interested now, too rich at £15k you can nearly get a gen 2 2.9 for that! Don’t fancy loosing 25-33% of its value driving it away from the dealer! Maybe they are following this thread.

Bugger that then.so obviously they’ve had lots of enquiries and decided to hike the price up a grand.I’d refuse to buy it on principle if I was in the market for one. I’m pretty sure this car was for sale on autotrader locally to me a few weeks ago-a private sale.the colour (obviously) and the mileage ring a bell. If it is the same car it was up for 12 grand I recall.
