My company shutdown our office earlier this year and since working from home permanently, it's much easier to have a dedicated browser screen open all  the time 🙂

...and, yeah, I am a lazy sod as well 🙂

Sounds perfect, I've just finished doing 12, 12 hour nightshifts, lol.

Wow, this has ended up being some thread, lol. Do none of you guys work lol. Some interesting info, I always wanted a TVR. The guy opposite where I live had a yellow TVR Cerbera, he sold it and now has the awful sounding suped up Honda 2000. As a kid it was always a Capri 2.8 Injection or a mk2 escort.

I had a TVR. It was the most wobbly poorly built, poorly engineered shed imaginable. The RV8 sounded nice but wasn't great to drive. I would never buy another plastic car.

Personally I'd rather buy privately then from an Arthur Daley type with no interest other than applying a machine polish and £3k to the price you could have bought the car for a week earlier.

Again with service history, far mor important to me how it has been looked after for the last three years and had regular use than whether someone has shelled out a fortune to have someone change the belt and pollen filter.

If you don't know what you are looking at, you could always spend a couple of hundred on an independant inspection for a bit of peace of mind.

Agreed, I know what I'm looking at and for, this is the car I was on about in my original post. Guy said he would take 8k.but once he sent me the service info I started to wonder.

Hey, @Mattman42 does more than just add polish.... he sometimes vacuums them out too!

Regarding PPI I already got my fingers burnt paying for a PPI that ended up being rubbish and I wasted a lot of money paying for it and train journeys on the back of this PPI. So will go with my intincts and some guidance off here, maybe it is a unicorn I'm looking for, I want to take it to South of France every year, so a lot of motorway driving so cruise would be beneficial or I get one cheap enough and install aftermarket.

That looks to be a very good car IMO - colour is fricking AWESOME (never saw that in all my time searching), MOT history is very clean (might need new discs and pads soon), although I'd like a few more pics of the interior before getting on the train (and it says it has cruise control?).

If it was a manual, I'd be fighting you for it myself 🙂

I can't add the screenshot he sent with the service history.

Question asked about bore score, see what he comes back with, not a lover of heated seats tbh. I have them on my daily and I'm not even sure I've ever had them switched on. Lol. I've done all the roof down in the winter and rain stuff previously. Hence why it will tour France to get the best out of the convertible, took my 2003 Z4 3L straight  6 to France never missed a beat and loved every minute with it. Roads over there are  different even b roads.

..ask him about the clutch too while you're at it, and gear cables.

No details of the service book he just sent me the service history typed up, only had 2 major services in its life, last major years ago all the rest minors, 3 brake fluid changes.

Well, it's how you feel about it, I guess...if there are no proper invoices you have to be sceptical.

For me, the MOT is a great check as it tells you all the main, expensive things that will stop you using the car; if it had bore score, it would almost certainly fail the MOT on emissions, for example and brakes, bad suspension bits etc.

I'm not a great believer in service history making any difference - I've seen stories of cars coming back from a dealer with oil levels too high (they'd just poured the stuff in until it overflowed - too much oil is almost as bad as too little), stripped oil sump bolts, air filters charged for but not done etc, etc. I'm just too much of a cynic - did they really use Castrol FXG012 Pro (made that up) or just some bog-standard stuff they buy in bulk for peanuts?

Brake fluid is in a sealed system and while it gets ruined by air getting in, unless you have a leak, it should easily last 60k miles if not more - this dedication to getting it changed every 2 years or whatever is crazy IMO. 3 brake fluid changes in 100k miles is plenty...

The guy has no idea I don't think. I'm not even sure if it's a company car.

...if it was a company car i'd expect a comprehensive history.... the previous original owner of mine was and it has, as you know.

Check the AC works as the condensers at the front corners corrode and gas leaks out .

Front x over pipes another mine to hit .

It certainly looks fabulous in that colour and the price is ball park .As others have said there’s a risk with 15-20 yr old cars .

As long as it’s had fresh oil regularly then go for it .

Just be prepared at some  time in the first 18  months to tip £2 K into it to rectify the common faults .

They are very easy to diy on btw .

Hey Hey - polish cuts into the profit margin, hoovering can be done for free when you plug it in to next doors garage!

Its amazing how many cars i've picked up relatively cheaply because the previous owner couldn't be arsed to clean them - i quite enjoy seeing if it can bring them back - and also found a few quid in the process to offset the purchase price!

My mechanic serviced my Z4 and serviced the autobox changing the oil, seals and filter, while it was there he changed the diff oil and seals. So you knows what he is doing.

3 months MOT left so that is really a concern. (£50 + worry)

Without paperwork to support, it really needs a major service for peace of mind (£500)

Headlights need to be polished (£100)

Needs new centre caps (£50)

High tax bracket really is a killer and is a lot more than i expected to pay - all this considered (plus whatever else you can find) and I'll give you £7,750 today to take it away, cash or bank transfer - and be willing to walk away if he wants more than 8k

...i concur on the costs, budget £1k per annum on average on most premium brand motors.... porsche included.
