Ron Racher
Looking for recommendations for new set of 4 tyres for my 2014 981 Boxster 2.7. Car is fitted with 20" Carrera wheels. Pirelli is the usual choice but how about Michelin, Goodyear? I only use the car on public roads, not track days.
Menoporsche
Most here will recommend Michelin for best grip and longest wearing; but you might pay for it. Several including me very happy with Goodyear Eagle for less; they might wear faster but that’s irrelevant for my limited mileage, they should be hardened by then anyway. Take that as a guide but you might find price deals which change the calculation. Edited November 24, 2023 by Menoporsche
Raffe
PS4S - superb tyre for road use.
MickH
F1 assy6. Cheaper than the ps4s and more engaging.
Ringmaster999
I have no issues with Goodyear F1. Good tyres for general fast road work. Just changed the rears after 14k and the fronts still have 4-5mm on from when I changed all four 14k ago.
andygo
PS4s's. Nothing bit praise for their grip and longevity. However, new kid on the block could be Continental 7's which seem to be getting great reviews. Dont fall for the Micheslin PS5's, not the same market place at all. Pirellis are tier 2 tyres in my experience, especially in the cold and wet. But don't worry if you buy any by accident, they won't last long. Jakeb
Have a look on Copart. Most of the crashed 981's are on Pirelli's.............. 718 - but you get the idea https://www.copart.co.uk/lot/73292563/clean-title-2017-porsche-718-cayman-sandy Edited November 25, 2023 by Jakeb

Paul P
Buy what you like. You decide what makes a tyre your choice I am a Michelin fan for performance tyres. have used continentals as well. No issue there. Generally not a Pirelli fan but that’s me. Michelin for me as first choice as well. Our Boxster was on worn 17" Continental's which we changed for new 18" Michelins and the ride was noticeably improved. Used to run our Primera saloon on Pirelli's before changing to Michelin, we didn't consider changing back. 15 hours ago, McDonald said: +1 Pirelli make good calendars but their tyres are second rate. Ahhh, I remember the calendars, was always a nip or two in the air

iborguk
Personal opinion , I've found Michelin PS4S work better for me in our colder/wetter climate than Pirelli PZeros. No wrong answers here, as others have said buy what you like.
