Does it crank but not fire? Assuming battery good, good coils and spark, then have a look at the fuel pump.

Totally not sure just a random message he is 80 having swoped engines etc on his own ! Just said lights are all on and nothing to the starter , hence mitigating a wire off , that’s as mush as I know

Lights can come on but can still be not enough battery power to crank or fire the engine. Sounds like you need to get there or somebody needs to go get there to problem solve with the car in front of them.

@bally4563 if I remember correctly this was the vehicle your amazing father pulled the engine from....with that in mind my basic mindset works in the same direction as yours,possible loose or unfitted earth or positive to the starter motor please keep us updated 🙂
