The 5 speed is no better!
Really? It's not a known issue on a 5 speed.

On mine its usually the seal below the outer seal which can be seen. I insert a thin plastic card like scraper to release the window. Hot water in a zipbag resting against the visible seal helps.

I’d only be using the car in the spring/summer and being up north of the border the extremely hot days are few and far between.
Far more important that it has a working heater!

Mine is without a/c. It's never bothered me. It's a convertible. Lots of posts on here about a/c not working so I'm pleased not to have it. Saves weight too!

Various Ebay sellers have Porsche Posts. For example:

Have you tried interleafing, say, a microfiber cloth between the touching parts? May not look the best but it could offer a solution whilst you look for a better one.

I did notice oil at bottom of tyranny though where it connects onto the engine block 😒 I've only had it since October its a 2001 boxster s with 78k on clock looks like a trip to specialists for the IMS doing, any recommendations for a Yorkshire area peeps?
It's more likely the RMS rather than IMS. Is it dripping or just oil misting? If the latter I suggest you clean and monitor. If the former then wise to get it checked.

I'll be looking closely at the replacement (second-hand) pipe when it arrives tomorrow to see if that's starting to go in the same way. And I'll certainly be anointing it with some anti-rust stuff.
Probably something to add to the 987 preventative maintenance schedule (assuming anointment can be done in situ).

Tried WD40… liberally covered all 6 coil packs and the surrounding area left it for half an hour free buttering up the car then took it for a drive… less kangaroo hopping but still there unfortunately…
The fact that there's less hopping (fewer misfires) suggests that it is the coil packs that are the issue.

Have you tried liberally spraying the coil packs with WD40? If it lives up to its name it'll displace any water affecting the coil packs. Will also help with any seized coil pack bolts when you replace them.

Aircon condensation pipe not exiting to outside, split or disconnected?

^^^ This. Driver's side secondhand unit will be about £40.

Could the starter motor bendix drive be jammed in the ring gear? Put the car in gear, brake off, and rock the car this will move the ring gear and release the bendix drive. Same effect as hitting the start motor with a broom handle like Ed suggested.

ahh makes sense.. where did you get the replacement from and how much?
It was replaced by a bodyshop as part of a smartening up and partial respray. I suspect the part came from the nearby OPC but the cost was absorbed into the overall figure. My understanding is the tabs are part of a separate backing piece to the vent and not too expensive.

I snapped a tab off mine too when i was doing the desnorkel mod. For what it's worth once its snapped you should be able to take it off easier now. Mine is hanging out at the bottom by about a cm and its making my OCD go wild every time i look at it. Shame the replacement part costs is silly high.
I had it replaced so it's ok now. Hence my reluctance to remove the vent again and exploring whether there is alternative access to the foam.
WATER UNDER THE SEAT - ECU REPLACEMENT (987.1)

With the seat out slide newspapers and / or towels under the carpet then stand on the carpet to squeeze out the water from the foam. Keep repeating until as much water as possible is removed. Leave dry newspapers under the carpet. It will still soak up more water. Change it when it does.
