Hi ed80 I'm in the market myself for a new hood with glass window, my original plastic window went bang when I tried to fold it tonight.  Mine was the original, opaque and slightly cold at the time, shame really as the hood itself is in good knick even if the metropole blue had faded a bit and has slight creasing. If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for the BAS new hood?

Did you not see @Patt roof on his old 986 at Blackbushe? That was from Carhoodwarehouse circa £600.

I chose the 600 x 600 panels from Toolstation. They are supposed to last an average 35k hours which is nearly 4 years continuous.

At 2800lm they are equivalent to about 180W of incandescent. I have two so far and will put in two more on the other side of the garage. That should be enough!

Can these just be wired in in place of a regular fluorescent tube? Was thinking about sticking a couple of these in my kitchen and garage.

Had my first proper drive on Saturday, coming back from the lakes over Hartside. Engine was as expected, especially at the top end, lovely gear change, but the best thing was the handling!

sunday fixed the remote boot opening using a small chocolate block, as the cable had snapped, not sure how long it will last but working fine how.

If you're using chocolate watch out when the weather warms up again as it might melt and ruin your good work.

Seem to have managed to cure the slow flashing coolant red warning light which has been showing for some months now, since fitting new coolant tank, water pump, thermpstat, belt & new coolant. Interweb research showed the slow flashing (one flash per 2 seconds) to be indicating low coolant level or duff engine compartment fan. Both of these were checked to be ok. I had thought it was maybe air in the system, so ran with the bleed valve open for a good while. This did not help.

Today I poked around at the level float in the coolant tank using a long screwdriver. Hard to see what I was doing but it seems to have done the trick. I wonder if it could have been sticking?  I have stopped and started several times today and coolant light is still not showing. No doubt I have spoken too soon and will be back to square one next time I start it, but for the moment cautiously optimistic:).

I guess it was either stick as the coolant blew past or you have knocked it so that it will now always show the coolant is ok :

4 wheel alignment done and then a blast around the roads with the top down to see how it feels. Much improved ?

Oh and I finally put on my refurbed wheels too. Looks much smarter, especially with the badges from @marts500

If you're feeling flush do the dampers and you will feel a whole new level of 'improvement' :D

It did cross my mind but ran out of time yesterday, looking at the amount of junk in there it would be a very good idea, leaves, sweet papers and crisp packets etc.

Those fans must really have some pull as the fins were totally plugged in places, I'm surprised it didn't overheat in the hot weather.

I don't think it's the fans as such. The debris just gets hoovered up as the car goes forward. The fans then just suck it all into the rad face so once in there is no chance for it to swirl around and come out again.

Started on the big suspension overhaul today. Managed to undo or remove all the rear arms and bolts apart from the damned drop link top bolt/pinch bolt. They both seem seized solid into the hub. Going to ponder my options overnight for them.

Also I think I found the cause of the knocking from the rear.

It was like that on both sides. The rest of the bushes send OK, apart from the donut in the middle of the coffin arms and the ball joints felt a bit worn. Drop links and ARB bushes definitely needed changing.

Good job. It's not just the knocking with such a knackered bush but the suspension cannot control the fore and aft movement so you get changes in geometry as you load it up and hit bumps. It will feel unpredictable or twitchy nearer the limits.

  8. Do a search for the TPC kit. Parr published a couple of articles when they first did them. There is a silver 3.2 Boxster and an orange Cayman. You will not get your money back. As usual with mods you just won't get the money back when you sell.

  9. I haven't taken much interest in Dom Delaney but it does wen like his SVP business went into administration a year or 2 back. But he seems to be back in business with another similarly named business.

Anyway back on track kind of Jens Ehresman seems to quite regularly get 365bhp ish from the 3.4 in 987.2 and 981.
