On the south coast just behind the Downs we are a little sheltered from the worst of the storms. Saying that it was still pretty blowy last night.

I'm pleased to say that this morning it doesn't look phased, it's rock solid.

Lol, it doesn't use guide ropes, although I think I might whack a few more ground anchors in for peace of mind.

It’s obviously more sturdy than it looks, glad it survived which must give you encouragement to start adding more home comforts

Sort of nice to know that some nitwit can do a gash job and it survives..... Incidentally what mileage is on the car? Can't be many on their 3rd clutch.

Mines done 210k and just change the clutch for the first time a few hundred miles ago, testament as to how well built these cars are

A love the wife don't love the boxster

B the bad outweighs the good by 50 to 1 as a bare minium

If that’s the case probably time to sell 🙁

Sometimes you just get bad cars that keep going wrong no matter how much you throw at it

  4. I actually don’t mind it, taking cues from the the 356 outlaws, the back end being better than the front, would I have one NO, but can see why someone might love it, the bits are all a bit too twee, not aggressive enough, lights and indicators too small, front lights too small, if you look at the 356 Speedsters it’s not go the same simplicity.

    Basically it’s trying to hard…

Thanks, I did spot yours just a little before listing mine. perhaps I'm asking a little above market value. I've updated the price to £450. Unfortunately I was offered that today on the eBay listing (which I would have accepted) but had some silly setting that auto-declined the offer.

I sold mine for £550 in he end, which I think is about right

I have an oil filled rad, but up till about 2pm the sun has been making it very toasty.  I've got two lights, a traditional led bulb and a LED photography panel which can run on a battery so I can move it about. I also have a maintenance battery charger and cctv.

I've also come up with a way of locking it so no curious eye can just open it.

I'm really happy with it, such a great space to be able to work on the car, it doesn't feel like I'm on the drive.

You just need to dig a 6ft inspection pit in there and you can start charging😂

Now the tent is up I've been working on the interior. Found an old tracker from the 90s. Removed that and some old stereo wiring.

It almost feels like I'm indoors.

Have you got a heater in there? The temp has really dropped now, have you hooked up lighting?

Changed the oil and filter, took the rear callipers off to clean and re drill the rear disks.
I noticed one fleck of plastic in the filter and a couple in the bottom of the drained oil.
I am sure this is from the guides and as I have a 3 chain motor not the variocam pads.
For those who do their oil changes how much if any “bits” do you get in your oil?

My engines done 211k and I tend to change every 3000-5000 miles, I always cut open the oil filter, never seen any metal or plastic in the oil….yet.

Sounds like my front bumper when I got my 986.  All sorted and the same colour all over now.  All those small improvements on a 996 will add lots of value, but make sure you enjoy it above all else.

Agreed, it’s half the fun, I’ve just popped into Douglas valley motors and picked up a load of bits as I was visiting my mother in law who lives up this way, I’ve bought from steve strange in the past, never met him, really nice guy and he chucked in a few freebies too, never seen so many trashed Porsches and Ferraris

    Define wheel envy.

Is that door a slightly, ever so slightly, different shade of silver???  92T vs 92U??  Might just be the lighting.

No, I think it’s a slightly different colour, maybe a replacement doors at some time, you can only notice it on the pictures, when you look at in real time it’s not noticeable, but it’s on the list along with the front bumper that has a crack in it, but can’t complain I got it for an unbelievable price.

No, but common sense has to play a part at some point!
Im spending around £600 to have my 18” sport designs refurbished but appreciate that even this doesn’t make financial sense👍

Just had mine done for £125 per wheel plus vat so £600, they split the wheel and have done them two tone, the result is awesome and well worth the result, mine are genuine gt wheels on my 996.

I would say money well spent and great value, man maths or not.

While watching that, I came across this....   New 986's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Sorry if you all know about this.

I’ve had a good look around one of these and they are lovely but they have not used extended leather to the dash and doors so cheapens the car somewhat
