  1. It stays on the car when not in use. This one is breathable.

Yes it is a worthwhile investment if the car lives outside.

I had a fox claw a previous car roof. A new OE cloth roof  is about £3.5K fitted.

  2. Cabrioshield Premium half cover.

    Not cheap but very good.

Keeps fox claws and bird cr*p off the roof.

Won’t help re drains , but I’d say that should be a regular check anyway.

  3. If it’s not a flashing CEL then it’s ok to drive but would get it looked at sooner than later. Can you drop by a garage with which has the appropriate code reader ?

If it’s driving ok I’ll bet on something exhaust related but that’s just that , a guess…

Interested in the rattling passenger side seat belt.  If it was refused, did you sort it somehow? Mine does this and it's pretty annoying

Rattling when engaged in the clip or when no passenger in situ ?

If the latter then try adjusting it so it sits higher up the seat.

If you didn’t mean that then apologies and ignore.

Checked the battery today and it states 2013.

I think it's time for a replacement. Not sure if I will go for the official route after my quote of £420 coded and fitted.

Yup that battery is past due replacing.

Can the iCarsoft V2 do stuff like activate the rain sensor, and toggle the stop/start function so that it's off by default?

No. That kind of coding will not be in scope. Again a Porsche PIWIS is needed for that.

  7. Also note when replacing the battery that for optimal charging the car needs to be "told" the battery has changed/is new, which the iCarsoft diag kit can do. Plenty of people will tell you they don't bother with this and maybe they don't have visible issues but the Porsche coding process is there for a technical reason.

A link and a couple of videos which may help...

I can't find a date code on the battery yet but I bet it's the original.

If it's a Porsche battery the week/year should be stamped on the negative terminal and if it is the original I'd start with replacing that.

Also if your car is near power and not being used that often I'd invest in a battery maintainer.

  9. Also to check my own thinking here , how old/good is the battery ? Sounds a bit weak from your first post.

I have seen threads where the PASM issue can be caused by a weak battery.

That said having that kind of diagnostic tool around is just good to have anyway..

Inbetween some icy mornings and a week on holiday I came back to find my Cayman not happy about starting up.

I put the car on charge and it now fires up. So far so good...

Unfortunately I have a message advising me I have a "PASM fault" and that it is "Possible to drive on carefully".

I have tried multiple code readers now and not one displays an issue.

Voltage before start up is 12.2v but down to 11.9v sometimes. During driving it is showing 14.1v.

I've done a bout 90 miles since the power has been restored.

Has anyone been in this situation before? Car drives fine, PASM still seems to  be working just no Sport and annoying message constantly showing up!

Porsche specific code readers ? If not that's where I'd go next...

Bit of a coincidence that kdh and I both had the same error code during high winds.

I'd say that's a complete coincidence and not root cause.

It'll be an exhaust leak or an ageing sensor (the latter potentially explaining the intermittent nature).

Leaks don't tend to heal up.

Wow, very close, and a virtual £5 to you! :)

Here is my Error Code and message:

Code: P2098 - Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System too Lean Bank 2

Any feedback on what might be causing this will be appreciated?

There were no other pending or stored codes.  I've cleared this code above and on start up it didn't reappear. Not sure if it will when driving again but will go for a spin later and report back.

Not sure if a red-herring, but I put in some Tesco 99 Ron fuel in the other day, could this have anything to do with it? Normally I have been running it on V-Power!

    987 doc but close enough...

    P2098

Lambda correction downstream, bank 1 – rich/lean control limit exceeded

     NOTE

Diagnosis detects a deviation between the lambda value measured by the oxygen sensor upstream and the value measured by the oxygen sensor

    downstream.

The deviation is eliminated through adaptation, a fault is only set once the adaptation limits are exceeded.

The most common fault cause is a leakage between the two oxygen sensors, resulting in the sensor downstream measuring more residual oxygen

in the exhaust than the sensor upstream.

    Diagnostic conditions

    Engine running

    Oxygen sensing upstream active

No faults detected for oxygen sensor or oxygen sensor heater up and downstream

No fault for secondary air injection, catalytic converter or tank vent entered

    Possible fault causes

Leakage in exhaust system between the two oxygen sensors

    Oxygen sensor upstream faulty (contaminated/aged)
