Thanks - that's all sensible. I do have the conditioner set up like that, battery positive and to the chassis negative.  I will get a coder and do the battery, I understand the iCarSoft POR V2.0 and V3.0 can do this. Seems just a sensible precaution. I'll also do the @Nobbie test.

When I did the drain test I didn't wait that long, but it did have the latches tripped, with the exception of the frunk, which I couldn't work out how to do.

    In case it’s of use

  2. Glad it's sorted.

Just been speaking to a Mechanic friend of mine who suggested that if the fuel filter is original, which I believe it is as I have completely forgotten about it, renew that because that can cause various upsets in the system when it is showing low, fuel, pressure.

Bought that diag kit yet ? :)

Not only will it give you codes but also access to the live data from the car.

That also helps zero in on issues and can help contain the parts canon from misfiring.

I don’t suppose there is much else that can fail if it was running recently before. I know that is a big, “if “.

02 sensors are all connected. I assume they are OK.

my son will have a generic code reader, so I will ask him to call down one day. I hate to ask cause I know he is really busy running his own garage but when the old man needs……

Your money , your choice of course but given you’re hands on DIY I’d recommend getting a Porsche specific reader as it will safe you a bunch of time and guesswork with any issues over time. Again if you buy the multi car version of something like the iCarsoft V2 you’ll eek out value for money on any other cars on your fleet.

I had this done from a nice guy on this forum, you need a code, which a guy in Russia can supply.

    Anyone interested let me know.

    Thanks

    You don’t need a code.

Just checking the 986 out prior to an MOT and I don't think that the headlight washers work, (what a surprise!).

Ignition on, headlights on, pull wash/wipe stalk, wipers and washers operate on the windscreen but nothing out of the headlight jets.

Is this the correct operation before I start pulling things apart?

Do you have the driver's manual ?

iirc for my 987s the manual stated that when engaged manually the headlight washer's engaged something like one stalk pull in ten - apologies in advance if that doesn't apply to the 986/is just plain wrong.

If they are defective this may be of interest.

My spoiler seems have started to not seat fully by about 10mm. I'll add it to their list. Hope they don't want me to book it in for 'evaluation'. :)

I had the same issue on my 718, involved the spoiler frame (the motor and mechanism) being replaced.

Ball park £800 part iirc (last year), replaced by the independent supplying dealer under their third party warranty.
