just the Spyder and GT4 RS continue … not sure how and why…

The how is that they fall under different regs, small series type approval (as if the 718 wasn't small enough volume) but hey ho, "progress" etc.

Well, true. It would need a big service, encompassing everything, and a detail. I think though that I'd prefer to buy a car that has a recorded history of having been consistently cherished. Perhaps I won't rule this one out completely. I'm looking at four or five in total.

World of choice and you know what your acceptance criteria is. I just personally wouldn't rule out the car if it is "the one", although of course it may not be for you.

    Enjoy the hunt.

It's a bit less perfect looking in the flesh, with some obvious scratches and stone chips.

The main issue is that the last 'proper' service was carried out by an OPC in 2019. It's only had a couple of oil changes since then, and there is no record of anything else having been done.

Nothing there that can't be addressed.

    Afternoon all.

Went to view this car today. Has anyone seen this seat trim before, or has this been retrimmed at some point?

    I'd say that's OE.

    I did mine last year.

Updated the firmware to 4.76, then cloned the HDD to SSD using a dedicated cloning device.

Is there any jiggery pokery re ensuring the Nav database is also at a correct version to take the firmware update ?

The control unit is part of the under seat heated wiring loom.  Looks like a relay, but has Pic inside with some other electronics to monitor the temps.

Would have thought on that basis the live values for temp should be readable by the right gear.

I guess sit in another 986 owner's car nearby and see if they are the same.

I had to replace the heated element for the back rest for a new, when I measured the resistance on the new element it was around 0.8 Ohm.  The other heating elements measure around the same resistance.  So think they are all good.

I can even see the seats drawing current on when the heating is on, which is a around 6A per seat for both high and low setting.  Can also seeing it going on and off as it gets to the desired setting.

Think it might be just the way they are.

Fair, do you have access to any Porsche diags kit with which you can read the live temp values of the seats ?
